Is there hope Zimbabwe ? A original song with Bucky Durdle's drums

This is another compilation courtesy of myself and the musical juggernaught that is @buckydurdle . Bucky put up a post a little while back that featured some African rhythms. Being that I am from South Africa I had to jump on this and tried to harness all the sounds I remember growing up in South Africa. To begin with I remember Miskandi (Miss- cand- dee) music which is a form of Zulu folk music. It is normally characterised by an up tempo, sort of skipping off beat and trebley usually chorused electric or acoustic guitar. This is usually backed by a pulsing beat,bass and backing vocals . This song is a good example of this type of music

I have this song on record and there is a synopsis of the song (which is handy as I don't speak Zulu).The song tells of a musician asking for money from his father so he can get married. He doesn't have any money because he is in a band and he is telling his father how good it is being in a band. This concept is pretty apt and true of a lot of musicians I know.

With this in mind as my reference point I started playing and layering instruments on top of Bucky's beat. I was also thinking about what was happening in Zimbabwe and whether this new leader would actually help the country or just be another wolf in sheeps clothing (his record is not exactly outstanding). Therefore this was the inspiration for the lyrics.

Absolutely agreed. Steemit seems much better for it than Facebook. Maybe because it is incentivized, but for whatever reason it makes Steemit a valuable place for people to connect :)

I hope so, hopefully with a decentralised currency systems we can start weeding out the evil bastards. If so Africa will shine with its resources and massive land mass. I am positive about where we are going.
