In this 9th issue of Music Today, we discover and highlight five (5) amazing music posts from all over the Steemit community.
Music Today is a SMA Community Initiative aimed at making sure the time and effort Steemians passionate about music are recognized, rewarded, and given the feedback they deserve.
What is the Steem Music Alliance? (SMA)
The Steem Music Alliance (SMA) is a community-based network platform that connects musical creatives, as well as, music lovers. We offer the opportunity for people to engage, collaborate, and grow.
We are a dynamic, collaborative group of over 500+ members with the goal to help each other in the pursuit of reaching our potential and dreams.
With eight (8) contest and challenges supported by the SMA, we aim to provide the maximum recognition, feedback, and rewards to the amazing creators of music on this platform. Music Today is another one of those initiatives to help achieve this goal.
Our curators scoured the #music, #sma , and other music-related tags to find some incredible music-related content to showcase and highlight to the community.
All of these posts below were voted on by the @smacommunity trail which is comprised of souls who care about music and music-related content here on Steemit.

Se Trata De Ti | by: @ilazramusic
This is such an exquisite composition, @ilazramusic showing his extensive orchestrating abilities, he throws so many harmonies and brings them all together to sound immaculate., from his baritone to his falsetto everything sits so well. It is truly amazing how much quality effort you can find today on #openmic, all this talent in my opinion is giving a great breakthrough for the platform to get a true credibility concerning the music scene in a couple of years.

Sweet Sixteen - Billy Idol (Cover)| by: @edprivat
Such a amazing job here by @edprivat, covering the "Sweet Sixteen" by Billy Idol in a gospel style, making it sound like a whole another song. All of his vocals are spot on and create the "room full of musicians" atmosphere even though I'm pretty sure it is all him. I completely enjoyed all the aspects of this performance, from the guitar and the choir, to the vocal dynamics in certain places and even that pinch of the phaser effect in the last part. Truly admirable @edprivat well done...

Tuscan Sunset | by: @thetroublenotes
This lively trio comes from Berlin, Germany and not only are they keen on busking in spectacular places, but they deliver a certain energy and really got some oomph to say the least. Cajon sound got captured amazingly and it is great it did to do the justice for the tight grooves the percussionist is doing in this performance. Followed by the exquisite and exciting riffs that the guitarist keeps giving throughout the performance, and amazing violinist that really builds up the flow with his spot on harmonies, I really enjoyed this performance to the fullest, as a musician myself I respect busking and consider it to be the best and most authentic form of a performance.

What find this is, this improvisation has such a nice flow to it, simply starting with the curious drum machine Digital Tabla from the Riyaz Studio the groove is really in its place, really carries itself throughout the performance. On top of that with some really cool chants and amazing soprano saxophone improv bits, this is an amazing session. I'd jam with this dudes anytime...

After 3 years of a globetrotting adventure Maryse McIver wrote this amazing piece when she returned to her hometown of Melbourne. One can notice while reading and listening to the song that lot of emotion has been put in it, I love her eclectic vocal dynamics, and her choices of chords to transmit the whole concept. Chords reminded me on Drive, a song I really like from the band Incubus. This being her first performance she really promises a lot, so go on and give her some love in the link below, she deserves it...

@edprivat You did an incredible job on Sweet Sixteen, I also use reverb a lot like you said you usually do, but here in this gospel track dry vocals really did the justice, really like your style in general man ✌
Hvala puno !Yea sometimes I think I am addicted to reverb I actually always refrain myself from over reverbing the s***T out of everything! Your "Incredible Hulk" song is so dope! And your last work in Swahili is crazy, I am learning Sotho , anohter African Language, I am very impressed with your eagerness to learn too!
@edprivat Same here, reverb is its own instrument for me, and I put less and less of it to create more headroom when I produce, but I still put a lot compared to standards :) I wish to make a grand tour around Africa, especially Mali and the Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya region. I'm in love with polyrhythm and various traditional instruments like Kora, Balafon and Ibo, I made this track 2 years ago as a rendition to the Malinese music
Is Sotho spoken in your region?
It's my wife's language (and our children) , it's from the kingdom of Lesotho but you can find variation of it throughout southern Africa, like Tswana in Botswana,
What an amazing music you did, I was trying to count at the beginning is it a 10/8 (rhythm) ?
@edprivat Start is actually 4/4 or 8/8 (kinda the same thing) there is a poly-rhythmic part where it is (4/4 crossed with 5/4) :) seems odd beat in some other places but it is just because of the arrangement, how are things down there in RSA and Lesotho?
I just got confused counting the poly-rhythmic part of the song (never counted it actually) and I updated the above comment three times already 😆 it seems that it is a cross between the 4/4 and 7/16, because the guitar is in odd beat and it doesn't sit with anything else but 7/16
Hahah I got lost on it for a while bruh, I counted it as a 9.5/8 the first time around!
Things are good here in Johannesburg, South Africa, but we wouldn't mind leaving off a piece of land on the coast in few years.
