One of the finest songwriters of these times, k.d. lang is largely ignored by the mainstream. “Constant Craving” is the only one of her songs that gets regular airplay – at least in her home country of Canada.
Lush and Best
“Constant Craving” was the lush centerpiece of lang’s 1992 breakthrough album “Ingenue.” In 1993, it won a Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal, and an MTV award for Best Female Video.
From Bondage to Freedom
According to lang herself, the song “is all about samsara” – the Buddhist concept of the cycle of life, as well as the desires and cravings that we experience while trapped in this life. Our “constant cravings” will continue to enslave us as long as … well, as long as we are not free from them.
Waiting for k.d.
The great B&W video for this song stands apart from most music vids. It presents actors performing scenes from Samuel Beckett’s tragicomic play “Waiting for Godot,” with lang crooning somewhere offstage. According to the director, the song reflects the hopeless anticipation and the desperation of Beckett’s drama.
Rolling Canadians meet Elvis
On the Rolling Stones’ 1997 song "Anybody Seen My Baby?", the refrain sounds remarkably like the refrain of “Constant Craving.” After the daughter of Keith Richards pointed out the similarities, the Stones added the names of k.d. lang and her songwriting partner Benjamin Mink to the writing credits. Lang said that she was “honored and flattered.”
With regard to k.d. lang, Madonna reportedly said that "Elvis is alive, and she's beautiful." I’m not sure if that’s true, but it certainly sounds true! (Image source)

I agree with the singer that man has an inherent cravings for so many things and, strangely, truth stands tall on the list. In short, even the most vicious man alive craves for the truth. Unfortunately, only a few soul has found the truth.
