“Sounds of the Balkans” Concert in Banja Luka, September 2018
[Текст на српском] Saturday, September 22nd 2018 — After almost six hours ride, we are in Banja Luka, BiH, where young artists from Serbia had a concert scheduled.
This time, they will perform as a trio, since the full roster of the ensemble was busy with the commitments to the Academy. Veljko and Denis got at the destination, Ban’s Court, and Neda was already waiting for us in Banja Luka.
Just across the street of the Ban’s Court, there is a beautiful Ortodox Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
Ban’s Court was built in 1932, as a main government building and administrative center for the BiH in the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia…
Lower parts of the building are built in a Renaissance and academic classicism influence, while medieval architecture elements are present in higher zones. Important place belongs to the folk elements of the Balkan Peninsula.
…and the Concert Hall (Great Hall) of the Ban’s Court belongs to the most luxurious Banja Luka interiors.
Before the concert
Preparation for the concert implies checking the instruments…
…testing…
…and fixing the sound.
Neda Nikolić, waiting for the sound test.
Veljko Nenadić, at the keyboard of space ship… I mean “Petrof” piano
Now we have almost all the microphones placed in the right places…
…and there are few moments left for a quick photo session before the concert.
The Great Hall was almost full. The only empty chairs in the first row were reserved for our team.
Concert finally begins…
…and you can hear a bit of it here…
Denis in his element…
Veljko, going solo…
Neda with bagpipes…
Denis with a rainstick…
