Käki - full show from Helsinki Psych Fest

This is Käki. Käki was born out of my solo projects when I started playing more and more live shows with Cédrik (guitar) and felt stupid because it was called something that was associated with MY work, as if I was some brilliant fucking snowflake. I struggled for a name for some time, but then it appeared to me in sauna, that it should be called Käki (cuckoo bird). They have a psychedelic, monochromatic but textured feathers, their singing is based on loops, you always hear them but rarely see them, yep, that fits the purpose perfectly.

Käki is more than human beings. It is just clouds of sound, clouds of common, shared consciousness. We all exist in the same place, out of this world, we serve the sound and that is the only purpose. Because I hated all concepts of what " a band" is, Käki is destruction of bands and music. There are no members. The only thing that is important is me or Cédrik, if I move away, there can be two groups that are both called Käki and they can play with completely different people in different parts of the world. I just know that we have a connection and we share this, and whoever plays with us, is part of it. There are no songs. You can't fuck up. All sounds are good sounds. It's meditation. Communication. Mutually shared existence.

Käki is born between the players and the audience, and it has no other purpose than to exist. The rules of music don't apply. It doesn't need to "go" anywhere if it doesn't do it naturally. Things grow and crumble, go on and evaporate. Just like in real life. Käki is our freedom of self expression, a collective of like-minded individuals transmitting emotions to other primates. That is it's only purpose, to make human beings feel something.
