Beat Battle League: Week Four : Fortress of Solitude

in #music7 years ago (edited)

This one is about the walls we build around our hearts to keep people from hurting us and the isolation that causes people.

This week's beat battle theme is loneliness. I composed this piece in Propellerhead Reason using an M-audio Oxygen 8 Midi Controller. It's in E flat Minor.

I much prefer Battles where all the producers are using a common sample. This keeps people from using old beats they've had laying around and just adding new titles to them to fit a theme, and it also provides a common thing from which to judge the participating producer's music. However, I also enjoy writing new music. Although I think of it more as a songwriting contest than a beat battle on weeks like these, I'm still happy with the result.

Thanks for listening! I hope you enjoyed the beat. Big shoutout to @chiefmappster @jphenderson @enginewitty @vandigital and @derekmiller for putting on this Beat Battle League for us all, and thanks to all the rad producers participating!

Thanks for checking me out. Keep training, and keep up the good fight!DQmfQQfJb3ELZK9RxZkJ9KYQGf8AGvxB6R1wa68A4HoA9eP.gif

Hello @ehzi-dehve! Huge thanks for posting your track in this weeks Music Producers' Feedback Contest. I appreciate you dropping your track for feedback, however you will not be fully qualified to win Whaleshares and Voiceshares until you have commented on at least one other track in the official post.

I apologize for the any confusion about the rules of the contest. It's week one and I'm still getting everything ironed out. But we do need all feedback comments to be posted on one of the official contest posts in order to be eligible. For more chances to win comment on even more tracks in the Week 1 Post below. Thanks!

I already gave you feedback on that other post, but this beat is really different and uniquely nice, with contrasting feelings and the samples you used are pretty fresh. Keep up the great beat entries. This one has great replay value because of how unorthodox it is and all the switch ups and transitions.

I appreciate it. Thank you very much.

You're most welcome

Ayyy thank you for this. And I definitely understand your viewpoint about old beat being used. But what I have learned is you can't stop lazy. So if they want to be lazy and use and old beat let them because the judges see that and take it into consideration.

I have a feeling there is a happy medium somewhere but we just have to find it. Thanks for caring and we really appreciate everything you put into this.

Namaste

This is a unique one @ehzi-dehve, I'm definitely loving the drum work you put into this. This instrumental tune is all about the drums but in my opinion, I wasn't feeling the melody so much though. I thought there was some sounds in there that should have stayed out and let some other sounds play instead. I think that when there's a lot of drum work that's in an instrumental, the melody should be a little bit more simplified so things don't sound as cluttered as this beat. As far as the theme to the week 4 battle, I didn't hear that loneliness or depression vibe. In my personal opinion, I was looking to hear a tune that touched my soul and made my heart feel like I'm not alone. This instrumental did not give me that vibe in my personal opinion. This was a good post due to the good drum work on this but I think you're holding back because you definitely could do better. Why hold back? Show us what you're really made of! ;-)
