'Release Me To Sleep' Music + Lyrics Collaboration with @juliakponsford

After 3 weeks of brainstorming, I finally came up with lyrics for @juliakponsford's original lullaby track titled "Release Me To Sleep".

As I previously shared in my earlier post -- You can become anyone -- working on a music collaboration with @juliakponsford, I felt inspired to put lyrics based on the emotions I felt upon first hearing the original track of Julia.

Quoting myself:

As I was listening, I sensed some sort of "mystery" in the song -- possibly a dark undertone. This might be a personal interpretation, but this inspired me to put lyrics to the music.

Although it was meant to be a lullaby, I felt sadness in the melody -- enough to put me into tears. It's like wanting to fall asleep but couldn't because of things that run inside my head. Hence, I felt inspired to put this feeling into words, lyrics in particular.

I felt that it was personal as I tapped onto my past experiences, back when I felt trapped and alone. There were voices in my head saying I'm not good enough. I always felt like I was a mess. These emotions can be picked up along the lyrics, which I included below.

The last line can mean two things [1] giving up or [2] rejecting those thoughts. But I firmly believe that it boils down to a "decision", and hopefully that's #2 which is to stop listening to impure voices and put everything to rest. Remember that sometimes it's in silence where we find ourselves.

Untalented doesn't mean you can't achieve something

This is honestly my first time to accomplish something like this, and I'm very happy that I found the motivation to accomplish the task here in Steemit. It was just a dream to write lyrics and collaborate with someone, and finally it now became a reality. My vocals are not as great. I felt shy recording it, and I needed to record with my brother in the same room, so I really felt uneasy. Anyway, I hope it still came out decent.

Day 3 of 30

I subjected myself to a 30-day challenge (read more), and this is my third day.

Yesterday wasn't easy. As usual, I find it a bit hard to completing my "promised" number of meaningful comments, but I managed to hit beyond 5, so I'm still proud of this achievement.
