Living with yourself: a life with our clone is possible?

Living with yourself is one of the many new Netflix series of this 2019, now densisissmo of products. And it is precisely this density that is the biggest enemy of the spectator, who, even if he wants to try to keep up with the streaming platforms and the big networks, just won't be able to avoid losing many titles on the road.
And then the question is reversed if we look from the point of view of production companies that to stand out must invent new concepts, trying to make them better.
There are those who trust in a powerful writing, some in big budgets, some in the basic idea.
Others, like the series covered in this post, rely above all on their leading actor.
Paul Rudd is finally called to the main role in a television production after many appearances and some important roles in the cinema.
In this series Paul Rudd splits, interpreting himself and his clone.
Not a very original idea but that could have created beautiful introspective moments.
He could, because in fact the series while not boring and throwing interesting ideas, he can't convince himself up to the bottom.

Living with yourself è una delle tantissime nuove serie Netflix di questo 2019, oramai densisissmo di prodotti. Ed è proprio questa densità il più grande nemico dello spettatore, che per quanto voglia provare a stare al passo con le piattaforme di streaming e i grandi network proprio non potrà riuscire a non perdere per strada tantissimi titoli.
E allora il discorso si capovolge se guardiamo dal punto di vista delle case di produzione che per spiccare devono inventarsi concept sempre nuovi, cercando di realizzarli al meglio.
C'è chi confida in una scrittura potente, chi in grossi budget, chi nell'idea di fondo.
Altri, come la serie oggetto di questo post, si affidano soprattutto al loro attore protagonista.
Paul Rudd è finalmente chiamato al ruolo principale in una produzione televisiva dopo molte apparizioni e alcuni importanti ruoli al cinema.
In questa serie Paul Rudd si sdoppia, interpretando se stesso ed il suo clone.
Idea non originalissima ma che avrebbe potuto dare vita a bei momenti introspettivi.
Avrebbe potuto, perchè di fatto la serie pur non annoiando e gettando spunti interessanti, non riesce a convincere fino in fondo.

The powerful idea behind the series is that it projects us into a surreal situation in which, not wanting to, we find our clone at home and not because of a strange retaliation by someone against us but by our conscious choice ended badly because of the cloning software that was supposed to "throw" the cloning body and preserve the cloned.
So who will our life be? Our or our clone? Who will succumb?
Impossible choice, ethically and practically.
So why not try to live together?
Splitting wife, dog, home, work, affections and hobbies?
2 people for a lifetime only.
Very interesting and original concept but which fails to develop effectively, indeed it seems very firm on its own positions and anchored to the beautiful initial idea.
Paul Rudd is good, very good, he manages to make good the duplicity of his character and launch himself soul and body in this adventure.
Not enough to emerge in such a dense landscape, ending up as a simple and good TV series to look distractedly and then forget about it.

L'idea potente alla base della serie è che ci proietta in una situazione surreale nella quale, non volendo ci ritroviamo il nostro clone in casa e non per una strana ritorsione di qualcuno nei nostri confronti ma per una nostra scelta consapevole finita male a causa del software di clonazione che avrebbe dovuto "gettare" il corpo del clonante e preservare il clonato.
E allora di chi sarà la nostra vita? Nostra o del nostro clone? Chi dovrà soccombere?
Scelta impossibile, eticamente e praticamente.
E allora perchè non provare a convivere?
Dividersi moglie, cane, casa, lavoro, affetti e hobby?
2 persone per una vita soltanto.
Concept molto interessante ed originale ma che non riesce a svilupparsi efficacemente sembrando anzi molto fermo sulle proprie posizioni e ancorato alla bella idea iniziale.
Paul Rudd è bravo, bravissimo, riesce a rendere bene la duplicità del suo personaggio e lanciarsi anima e corpo in questa avventura.
Non basta per emergere in un panorama cosi fitto, finendo per restare una semplice e buona serie tv da guardare distrattamente per poi dimenticarsene.
