PC or not PC?
I didn’t watch the Oscars and I hope you didn’t either. From what I gather it was boring. Very PC, decidedly non-white, the usual political rants. Gone is the feminist uproar of last year, because #metoo is soo 2018. All I could find is this short video of Hollywood female execs patting themselves on the back - everything’s been taken care of, plenty of women on the sets, a safe work environment blah-blah. If you think about last year’s hysterics you’d have thought the problem is so much deeper and it would take a lot more effort to put things right. But, no, everything’s fine now. Except for the unlucky few male whose careers lie in tatters now. Wasn’t the #metoo movement meant to liberate every woman in the world from the tyranny of the evil white-male? If I remember correctly all women were encouraged to share their stories of misery - the harassment, every lewd remark they’ve heard, every catcall… Are we to understand all women are safe now or is it just the Hollywood stars and aspiring divas that no longer have to worry? OK, forget it, it was never about all women, who cares about them, screw them…
Like many of the causes liberals rally behind, #metoo was just a trend… no longer fashionable in 2019. That’s a good thing actually, as the feminist campaign to conquer Hollywood has little to show for itself. So the women are better represented, OK, and?! Nothing, really. From what I hear there were no blockbusters women could take credit for, no all-female cast sweeping the Oscars, just so-and-so movies, with no clear favorites, no picture people are dying to see and, presumably, not that much money… I don’t know if movie industry moguls are happy with it and I don’t care.
The same goes for inclusion - plenty of prizes going to non-whites, a movie about a gay immigrant, a movie where the white guy works as a driver for the black man (sort of ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ in reverse). Seriously, what can they come up with next year? Black people again getting every prize, that would be soo boring… My bet is that they’re going to go for the transgender issue - so underrepresented in the movie industry…OK, what next?
What about 2021? And 2022? Whose rights is the Hollywood elite going to champion then? Fat bald women with a wooden leg? Or maybe, just maybe we’re going to live to see the day when movies are about talent again, like in the olden days?
Could we ever hope to see a return to the barbaric times of 2004 when ‘Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ swept 11 Oscars, only one trophy going to a woman, who wasn’t even in the picture (Annie Lennox - Best Song). Do you realize that movie wouldn’t be possible in today’s PC world? Sure, it had a couple of women characters, the token minority in all white-male extravaganza… Well, there were the orcs - horrible mindless brutes with black faces, speaking mostly in grunts… I don’t think any of today’s media produces would greenlight that sort of racist script…
(Speaking of which, isn’t it time to burn Tolkien’s books already?)
I could finish this post with a ‘time will tell’, only I think the right way to put it is ‘money will tell’. If a movie is crap, not matter how PC it is, it doesn’t make money, and everybody is unhappy including the righteous stars and starlets. Money talks.

Most of the new hollyweird movies are NOT new. They're 're imagined', 'rebooted', or some such thing. There's a word for that. Plagarism I think it is.
Hollyweird is dead to me. With the advances in CGI I can see no reason for actors soon.

You're so right. I saw that politically correct Star Wars ****fest known as "The Force Awakens", I was screaming out loud "I've seen all these scenes before!". Old Star Wars fans could sit and pick out all the remakes of the old scenes - leaving perhaps only 5 minutes of truly original footage (the emotional bad guy, the tokenism etc).
Perhaps all those plastic and vacuous Hollywood actors should beat the rush and become voice actors as soon as possible!

I'm very pleased to hear that!
I stopped watching Oscars, Grammys, and any of that other nonsense since they decided they have the right to push their political agendas on us and it becomes a ridicule session. I didn't even bother to tune into either of them this year, nor do I plan to.
Also it made me consider how ridiculous the Oscars are in the first place and how we make such a big deal over people that can memorize lines, and act out a role well, and they already get paid millions to do it. We treat them like they are superhuman, and in the scope of things realistically their job is of lesser importance than so many other things. Yet we elevate them and treat them like it is one of the most important things of the year. I think the same of "professional" sports.
Yes, best avoid big movie productions altogether. Lately, we've branched out and watched a few non-American series and they were quite good and propaganda-free, which is such a relief. So many good actors, who don't get millions and are virtually unknown outside their own countries
The Canadian series are pushing the same PC stuff, so you pretty much have to go outside the North American continent.
Completely agree, you should only add to the Nobel Prize too.

Movies used to be iconic, inspirational, and relatable. When the politics of the vocal lunatic fringe expressed by the actors are bent on demoralizing the culture and people that the movies are supposed to be entertaining, they have lost all their attractiveness.
I liked the tuxedo dress as an interesting piece of art and I think the man looks nice in it. Do I find it moving or inspiring or mainstream or in any way practical or meaningful? No. But I like it better than when the women were wearing the underboob and underbutt dresses.

Completely agree with your post. Actually these awards always had a political weight, but at present it is completely political, 100%, there is no space for talent and objective evaluation.
Never watched the Oscars. Hollywood is the forefront of the oppression olympics which turns success into a race to the bottom. Soon they will run out of oppressed groups to prop up and turn to animals for the 2023 Oscars nominations.

The #meetoo PSYOP failed. And failed BIG TIME. If it had been the least bit genuine at all, you'd see the "primary aggressor" of this Psy-Op Harvey Weinstein behind bars; but in the 2-tier American justice system, well...that just ain't gonna happen.
The current mouvement-du-jour now they are already pushing for 2019 (and 2020, I also predict) is a POLITICAL-PSYOP #hatespeech so that the treasonous sellouts and warmongerers in the CONgress will be able to introduce bills and consequently pass laws which pertain to "hate speech" which is really a cover to suppress truth and voices online - particularly from the Alternative media (this is already the case in the EU with their EU Copyright Directive laws).
It's coming to the US, make no mistake about it. It will also be the precursor to annulling the 2nd Amendment, as their ultimate goal is to take away the guns (which they have already started to do under some laws).
