I'm not a big fan of your movies generally, but The Shining is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Have you seen Funny Games? It's not the generic type of horror movie, but the suspense is great and the two main actors are really good at being very creepy. There are two versions of it but honestly both are equally good. (The US version is a shot for shot remake of the Austrian version by the same director). I'd recommend it!
They aren't 'my' movies, but I guess I understand what you mean ;)
I mention the original Funny Games in my post. I haven't seen the remake (yet). It's unique that a director remakes his own movie shot by shot, so I will probably give it a try one day.
Haha oops, overlooked that one in your post I guess. In a big fan of Michael Pitt so I really enjoyed the remake too. He can be such a creep.

My favorite scary movies from your mentions are among my favorites and they are : The Shining (1980), Rosemary's Baby (1968),The Babadook (2014) , Alien (1979), Psycho (1960),Lost Highway (1997),Scream (1996), Don't Look Now (1973).
I made another list with movies that I find them scary and are not mentioned by you and I hope you will find some that you have not watched yet: The Entity (1982), It Follows (2014), Audition (1999) aka Ôdishon, Paranormal Activity (2007), The Orphanage (2007), Halloween (1978), The Conjuring (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016), The Ring (2002), Eraserhead (1977),
Inland Empire (2006).
I have not seen: The Haunting (1963), The Exorcist (1973), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Misery (1990), The Blair Witch Project (1999), Fat Girl (2001), Red State (2011) and those from runner ups.

It is impossible to remember and name all my favorite scary movies but I have seen and enjoyed The Entity. I don't remember that I found it very scary.
It Follows is on my to see list.
Audition is one of these movies that I find too nasty/ painful to enjoy and rewatch. So I did not mention it. I experience that with many Asian movies. Especially with movies that involve some kind of torture, bodily mutilation.
Halloween (1978) is one of my many favorites too, the same goes for Eraserhead. I don't find the latter scary, so I did not mention it.
All those movies you haven't seen are definitely worth watching ;)
