The film is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein a couple of filmmakers who have worked in different fields within the film industry together and separately. It emphasizes in its works, mainly, the cinema of comedy. They began working together as screenwriters in the comedy "Horrible Bosses" (2011), a successful film starring a large number of stars and whose plot focuses on a group of friends who devise a plan to kill their bosses. That same year they wrote and directed the comedic short film "Audio Tour" (2011). Two years later, they wrote the screenplay for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013), a comedy starring Steve Carell (among other big stars) that focuses on the world of magic shows. They also collaborated in the script of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" (2013), sequel to the successful animated film "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" (2011) that adapted the homonymous book by Judi Barrett, an animated parody of the films of catastrophes. This title was followed by "Horrible Bosses 2" (2012), sequel to the aforementioned comedy in which they also participated as screenwriters. Three years later, they debuted as feature film directors with the comedy Vacation (2015), a road movie "gamberra" with familiar overtones whose plot focuses on a family that travels across the country to reach the Walley World amusement park. After this title, Daley and Goldstein collaborated with the script team responsible for the script of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), second reboot of the Spiderman franchise and first installment of the superhero that is included in the Marvel film universe.
