Mountain Monday in Kazbegi
View of the Gergeti Trinity Church
This church stands on the top of the rock at an elevation of 2170 meters. Located in the north of the country of Georgia, on the way to Mount Kazbegi (5047 meters).
In 2018 the British Newspaper "The Telegraph" published a list featuring the world’s most stunning churches. The list consists of 23 buildings, including the Sagrada Familia in Spain, and this one was on the list. (source)
These pictures were captured in May during my vacations, and they are my contribution to #mountainmonday challenge now hosted by @bashadow.
The following shots are taken from Stepanzminda, a nearest town and a starting point of you are going to climb.
And the next three are made from the spot when we got there.

I wonder why the church was built so high in the mountain.
Stunning photos! The landscape is breathtaking.
Me too, but I couldn't figure it out. But I hope to go there again, so it will be my task for the next time :)
What a cool place for a church. Surrounded by mountains, and then that one picture up close and just a little ancient foot path, that is awesome, I wonder how many people walked that path.
I agree, the church looks cool at any season. It was constructed in 14th century, so I think it saw many many pilgrims and travellers... 🙂
