CONTROLLING YOUR SHIP (A)
Too many of us blame someone or something else for our 'failures’.
When we falter in achieving our goals, we always have ready-made excuses and justifications as to why it is so.
Common instances are:
Blaming your unemployment or under-employment on the fact fact that you’re black
Not applying for a job or scholarship because youbelieve the winners have been pre-selected
As a kid, always lamenting that the ‘excessive’ chores your parents give you made you fail a test/exam, prevented you from developing yourself, etc.
Believing that your activeness in church/mosque prevented you from getting a first class grade in school
Reading this, I am sure many of us have those lofty out-of-this-world ideas and plans lined up somewhere; in our brain or on paper.
We have multiple goals we would be happy to achieve. Goals that would drastically increase our ’happiness quotient’!
We want to lose weight, get better jobs, start our business, propose to that lady/guy, learn programming, learn new languages, etc.
However, out of procrastination, lack of self-belief, or sheer laziness, we shove them aside and settle for less.
A times, we claim to be “too busy” – a deceitfully comforting excuse for our under-achievements.
We would rather remain in a comfort zone, than push for our happiness
In the next part (B) , I would be sharing six things that we can do to ensure we're in firm control of our lives
