Federal Judge To Decide If There Is Enough Evidence To Support Cancer Claims Against Monsanto
Monsanto has received hundreds of lawsuits over the years, that have been filed on behalf of farmers, farm workers, and others, claiming that a controversial ingredient in their Roundup, glyphosate, causes cancer.
Victims who are a part of these lawsuits have claimed that they developed cancer because they had been exposed to the glyphosate.
While he is listening to various testimony all week, it isn't expected that the judge will determine whether or not the ingredient does cause cancer, that isn't necessarily the goal. The main objective for the judge will be in listening to the various testimony and then deciding whether or not the argument is going to move forward.
The judge is going to determine if the experts who have provided their testimony, are using valid methods to obtain their conclusions for their concerns over glyphosate and if so, they are going to be allowed to voice those conclusions in testifying at trial.
For the victims that are a part of the hundreds of lawsuits that have been launched against Monsanto, their doctors and various specialists, toxicologists, oncologists etc, will need to demonstrate to the judge that there is enough scientific evidence to support their claims.
And despite many wanting to point the finger at Roundup, the company that is responsible for the product is still standing by its side.
Monsanto still maintains that the ingredient is safe to use and they have said that there is nothing to worry about and no foundation to the claims that have been made suggesting otherwise; that it might be linked to cancer.
One of the plaintiffs, Christine Sheppard, admits that she used Roundup for years on her property in Hawaii, a coffee farm, and back in 2003 she was diagnosed with cancer. Sheppard firmly believes that Monsanto is to blame and has said that she can't believe it's still being sold and marketed as a safe and healthy product to use.
Roundup is still one of the world's most popular weedkillers. The ingredient is sprayed onto more than 100 different crops and because it gets absorbed into the crop, it cannot be washed off.
Because of this, many different processed foods have allegedly shown traces of glyphosate that were made with Roundup resistant grains.

Is glyphosate toxic to humans?
Of course glyphosate is toxic! It is a herbicide after all – the whole point of glyphosate is to kill unwanted plants. Like all chemicals, including water and salt, glyphosate is going to be toxic to animals & humans at some dose. With glyphosate being used not only as a herbicide but also as a drying agent, and not just in our lawns but on our food, we should worry about our safety.

Most likely I was exposed to this glyphosate because I have eaten Pop-Tarts, and other processed snacks; items like cookies, cereals, crackers, and chips.
I believe current scientific proof can aid in this suits. But has there been a question like this in the past to ensure that the research as to whether glyphosate is a carcinogen is ongoing? . I'm saying this because if the research on answering this question was started recently just because of this case, it might take time to get the accurate answer and we have poor victims with their claims not being attended to.
It's a pity that science aids us in one way and tends to harm us in another.

That sounds scary. Cancer is a terrible disease that causes terrible pain. I hope the farmers win this trial. After all, if there is even the slightest possibility that this drug is guilty of cancer, it is better to completely prohibit it. This will protect many people from the risk of becoming ill.
This is a really alarming news, makes one cuss if really eating vegetables is making it healthy.
I hope that justice fails where there is reason and not by vested interests

It would be a pretty obvious ruling if the judge decided in favor of Monsanto at this early stage of the game. To brush it off without statistics to back up their claims on both sides, would be tantamount to an illegal payout to either the judge or the farmers. Thanks 🐓🐓

I think I mentioned before, where do you go and what do you do to ensure you are eating safe food? Not everybody has the ability to grow their own, for various reasons.
We can only hope that people do the right thing, but it is clear that we are failing our own race...time and time again.
