Statues of Bali

Other than the Balinese gates, when in Bali, you would definitely not miss their guardian statues... They go hand-in-hand with the entrances as well as they are everywhere!

They may look fierce or intimidating but there's a reason for that - they are meant to protect you from the bad and evil spirits.

Found this at a garden... probably at one of the entrances
This was a full figure and I cropped the photograph to capture just the expression
And the details of the carving...
The strong light here helped enhance the textures and lines of this statue

This one I decided on a colorsplash as the cloth tied as a headpiece was this fantastic colour!
You see its pair in the background
These were guarding a temple entrance
A little muted in the details, I suspect it must be very old...
Look at how dark the stone has gone... and the fine web around and over the stone
