Hey all :-)

I learned from Craig Hill to observe the difference in priorities between the rich and people of lesser means in their initial paycheck spending. Throughout my life I have found his interesting observation to hold and I would love to share it with you.

The rich most often put money aside for giving, investing and saving first, before they consume.

The poor does the opposite.

If anyone out there are now thinking, “but that’s also easy when you are rich, with my budget – that’s impossible” You are thinking the exact same that I was thinking. To address this point I would like to paraphrase a story that I will never forget from the book the richest man in Babylon*

In the ancient times, the richest man in Babylon were invited to hold a seminar on how he had made his fortune. The tent was packed with aspiring citizens from all layers of society, each eager to learn how they could become wealthy. During his speech he challenged everyone to invest 20% of their paycheck before they consume. The crowd cried out the above mentioned counterargument. The wise wealthy man silenced the room and then asked a question, "how many in here do not have enough money to lay even 10% aside to invest?"

Everybody raised their hand

Everybody.

….

”When you from all layers of society doesn’t have money to invest, is the problem the size of your paycheck?”

Ill restate the question from the former post, "who will be financially free first?"
The one who makes and spends $10.000 /month? Or the one who makes $1.500 / month and invests $200 to generate residual income from investments that adds and complies month after month to his monthly passive cashflow?
As mentioned - The poor focus on how much they make, wealthy focus on how they spend.
Lets share some cool financial hacks and survival tips in the comments below so we can all decrease our consumption and raise the percentage of investments :-)

One that helped me was getting a data plan only and using communications apps that runs on the internet on my phone.
Services like textplus* and Whatsapp are mainstream
Signal and Telegram are encrypted
They all enable you to set up numbers and calling using only wifi and data.

Sincerely

Mikk N

Great post! Saving as soon as you can and building your wealth is definitely one of the smartest things you can do.

I made a budgeting tool myself for my girlfriend and I which has helped us immensely. It basically calculates how much you have to save per month to reach whatever financial goals you desire based on your current levels of fixed income and fixed income. Then you input your variable expenses as you incur them and make sure you reach your budget for the month. I'm also building a functionality that runs a simulation macro to show you on average how much money you will have through investing the money you're saving after a set period of time.

I'm going to be making a post about this in the near future (hopefully this week or the next) which will provide more information as well as a free link. If you'd be interested in receiving this workbook for free please give me a follow and then it will be included in the post when it goes live!
