Mi apodo viene de algo muy interesante: Horas y momentos compartidos con mi familia, sobre todo mi hermano mayor. Les dejo mi historia que espero disfruten leer.

Una semana antes el ambiente del Kwoon* estaba impregnado en sudor, estábamos descalzos y no sentíamos las extremidades, pero estamos satisfechos. Estábamos orgullosos. Somos unos guerreros. Dos horas intensas de exámenes habían marcado un antes y un después en nuestro carácter formándonos cada vez más no solo como artistas marciales sino también como adultos mayores y responsables.

Hoy en el Kwoon un muchacho larguirucho, pálido y de cabello increíblemente liso y negro como la noche me observaba fijamente desde la multitud con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja. Yo estaba de pie frente a mi maestro de artes marciales quien me entregaba mi primera cinta, mi primer logro real en Wu shu. Recientemente también había recibido el grado de Wing chun así que mi nivel de felicidad era épica, dos logros, dos sueños hechos realidad. Al volver la mirada hacia mi hermano, pude leer sus labios que salía una típica frase que yo personalmente amo: ¡Buena Joko! y su cabello negro como la noche relucía, su piel se veía menos pálida y sus ojos café brillaban, casi parecían ojos de pelicula japonesa.

Dicen que los venezolanos somos muy apegados a la familia, y es verdad. Lo confirmo. El primer libro que me leí fue uno de la biografía de Bruce Lee, y mis peliculas de Disney como Mulan dejaron de ser mis favoritas siendo desplazadas por las películas de este asombroso personaje y el muy conocido Jackie Chan. Maestro Borrachon la raye aproximadamente 9 veces hasta donde recuerdo.

Mis gustos fueron evolucionando, cada día veíamos películas orientales más serias y leía libros más hacia el arte de combatir. Como bien saben mi nombre es "Jessie" y se pronuncia con la e muda. En alguna de las tantas miles de películas que veíamos a diario.

Una en particular tiene esta escena que en medio de una cruenta batalla rodeado de guerreros derrotados el valiente personaje principal gritaba por haber sido el perdedor. Gritó el nombre de aquel que lo había vencido, algo parecido a mi nombre y en los subtítulos se podía leer "Jokoso" más otra palabra asiática. Entre la emoción y la sorpresa mi familia tomó la costumbre de llamarme así más por cariño que por otra cosa.

Aún hoy me siguen llamando Jokosso, algunos dicen que es porque soy buena bromeando y haciendo reír por lo parecido que es a la palabra "Jocosa" con lo cual mi apodo evolucionó a Jokossita por ser más femenino, hoy en dia ya soy toda una guerrera de las artes marciales orientales y tengo un apodo que podría hacer historia cuando algún día gane en los combates internacionales. Agradezco enormemente a mi Sifu Joan Martinez por enseñarme lo poco que hasta ahora sé. Y por el mundo al que me ha abierto las puertas con el entrenamiento de las artes marciales. Por sus sabias palabras cuando uno siente que no puede más no solo en el entrenamiento sino en nuestra vida.

A week earlier the atmosphere of the Kwoon* was impregnated with the smell of the sweat, we were barefoot and didn't feel the limbs, but we were satisfied. We were proud. We are warriors. Today in the Kwoon a lanky boy, pale and with incredibly smooth hair and black as the night watched me steadily from the crowd with a smile from ear to ear. I was standing in front of my martial arts master who handed me my first tape, my first real achievement in Wu shu. I also recently received the Wing Chun degree so my level of happiness was epic, two achievements, two dreams come true. As I turned my gaze to my brother, I could read his lips that came out a typical phrase that I personally love: Good Joko! and her black hair as night glittered, her skin looked less pale, and her brown eyes gleamed, almost like Japanese movie eyes.

They say that Venezuelans are very attached to the family, and it's true. I confirm it. The first book I read was one of Bruce Lee's biography, and my Disney films like Mulan stopped being my favorites being displaced by the films of this amazing character and the well-known Jackie Chan. I spoil the CD of the movie Drunken Master from so much seeing it.

My tastes were evolving, every day I saw more serious oriental films and read books more towards the art of fighting. As you well know my name is "Jessie" and in one of the many thousands of movies we watched every day.

One in particular has this scene that in the middle of a bloody battle surrounded by defeated warriors the brave main character shouted for having been the loser. He shouted the name of the one who had beaten him, something similar to my name and in the subtitles one could read "Jokoso" plus another Asian word. Between the excitement and the surprise my family took the habit of calling me more for love than for something else.

Even today they continue to call me Jokosso, some say it's because I'm good at joking and laughing because of the similarity to the word "Jocosa" in spanish meaning "playful" with which my nickname evolved to Jokossita for being more feminine, nowadays I'm a whole warrior of the oriental martial arts and I have a nickname that could make history when someday wins in the international combats. I'm very grateful to my Sifu Joan Martinez for teaching me the little I know so far. And for the world that has opened the doors to the martial arts training. By his wise words when you feel that you can't, not only in training but in our life.
