The minnow shoal of Steemit has been whipped up into a state of frenzy.

Hundreds if not thousands of the smallest fish that exist in the sea we call Steemit are sitting at the at the starting line poised to stake there claim to the big prize.

On your marks..image.jpeg

The waters have been baited by @aggroed @ausbitbank @steemteam @canadian-coconut and the wonderfully generous @benjojo with a bucket load of minnow food to fight over.

One lucky minnow will be receiving an all expenses paid trip to Steemfest2 in Lisbon, Portugal in November this year. No worries about the flight or accommodation costs.

So if you are a minnow from far away shores like our awesome chums from down under, the Americas, Africa or Asia this is a huge prize however it is no less significant for the British and European contingent.

Write the post of your life and it could be you!!

The Lisbon Guide Book. With added fake history!

I'll get into the contest later as first I want to focus on what you can to expect to see in this beautiful Southern European capital city that is steeped with interestingly made up history!

The first reference of Lisbon that has ever been discovered is in the little known bible book "The Chronicles of Percius".

The book was sadly removed from the bible we know today by the Council of Nicea in 325AD with all copies of the original book burned at the meeting.

Little is known of the mysterious Percius apart from a single reference in the Dead Sea scrolls discovered in a cave complex in Qumran in 1947.

The reference states that Percius was crucified upside down by Roman officials for being too opinionated after his return to Judea from his job as official biographer for Jesus's extreme sport's world tour!

We do know however that the tour took place thanks to the Portuguese as they immortalised Jesus's first bungee jump with the statue "Cristo Rei" Christ the King, found in Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei in Lisbon.

World's first bungee jump!? image.jpeg

Thankfully early Portuguese settlers in Brazil verified the account of the world tour by immortalising Jesus's successful attempt to beat his own world record in 27AD by jumping off the top off the 700m tall Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro. A record that had previously been set at Lake Taupo in New Zealand the previous year. The record still stands today!

image.jpeg 700m still a record.

Please note: No offence is meant to Christians, it's just a bit of fun.

Another impressive site to see when you are in Lisbon is the Jeronimos Monastery situated near the Tagus river in the parish of Belem. It is a truly monumental building and definately worth a visit.

image.jpeg

After absolutely no research whatsoever I discovered that there has been a raging debate for centuries since the monastery was inaugurated in 1469 as to the origin of the name Jeronimus.
Some scholars claim that it harks back to the words of Jesus himself as he is believed to have shouted "Geronimo" during that famous first bungee jump however others believe it is named after the son of the original (although unheard of) architect "Tremendicus".
Whatever the truth is, it cannot be denied that this UNESCO World Heritage Site is truly impressive.

Outside.image.jpeg

With its beautiful courtyards.

image.jpegInside.
With its amazing internal architecture.

So onto the final tourist attraction in this frankly dodgy guide book.

The Ponte 25 de Abril Lisbon Suspension bridge.
Suspiciously familiar folks?image.jpeg

This is believed to be a renamed "Golden Gate Bridge" recently stolen from San Francisco Bay by the elusive and enegmatic Potuguese pirate Tremendinho de Percificus Sexius known to operate off the coast of Northern California.

The bridge disappeared in a single night recently and suspiciously the Ponte 25 Abril Lisbon suspension bridge appeared weeks later in Lisbon.

Whether the two bridges are indeed the same I will leave you to decide, however the Portuguese authorities have denied it and have so far refused all calls from the US state department to discuss the subject.

I hope you enjoyed this fake Lisbon guide book.

It was written to inspire contestants to do there best work in order to be judged the best entrant and be able to visit this lovely city.

The sites are real however my interpretation of the history is obviously not. Whoever wins is going to have the opportunity to visit these wonderful landmarks so here's how you can win.

  1. Produce a bio. At least a paragraph.
  2. Describe what you will bring to Steemfest. (Not an object list, but what skills and talent you have that will improve it for everyone).
  3. A budget.

You must however........

  1. Be a minnow.
  2. Have less than 500 followers as of today.
  3. Have earned less than 5000 SP from posting as of today.
  4. Be able to read and write in English. But you can be from anywhere.
  5. You must be a legal adult in your country of origin.

Prizes are:- 1st All expenses paid trip to STEEMFEST, 2nd 100SBD, 3rd 50SBD.

Click below again to read the post that @aggroed put up earlier for more info on how the contest will be judged, by whom as well as other ways to win passage and help getting to Steemfest.

Currently I am unemployed. For the first time in my life, I have decided that I am going to succeed as a professional writer. I discovered Steemit as the result of watching Jeff Berwick @dollarvigilante and was intrigued by the lack of censorship and corporate control offered by Steemit.

Just joined in June and have posted 17 articles so far and am humbled that 164 people have decided to follow me. Still new and have a lot to learn. I will post my introduction, once I reach 200 followers, as I want the writing to stand on its own merit first.

My passions are Human Freedom, Liberty and fighting against the increasing controls and financial manipulations of the corrupt governments who would control all humans, body & soul, if they could.

I believe that one person can make a difference and that Liberty begins when one person shouts, "NO".

I have seen the effects of the Government/Corporate power machine on both YouTube and Facebook. While they don't outright "Censor" content writers (yet) they have no problem de-monetizing them and faking statistics to create economic failure for people that don't mirror their agenda.

Thanks for taking the time to read my entry.

Glad to follow you buddy.
I hope the writing works out.
I find it great fun and I only came here in May.

@tremendospercy

I will have @philippinetrail resteem it for us.

I'm not sure how much truth is in this post...

Regardless...very entertaining

The dates are true regarding the monuments, the council off Nicea and Qumran scrolls.
It's the TremendosPercy distant relatives that are iffy.
And I've never seen any evidence that Jesus didn't do a world tour of extreme sports yet!!!!!
Thx for the comment
