Tutorial: Registration on Discord

Peace Abundance and Liberty/Minnow Support Project Server

Please read this carefully as we have made some changes to the registration process.

With the current influx of over 500 new members to the server every week, there has been an incredible strain put on our bots to keep up with the demand for registration and upvotes. In the near future we may need to make some more changes to the system in order to ensure the viability and sustainability of a strong upvote for everyone.

As the first of a few new registration changes, we are for now manually verifying and updating each registrant, which means that applications for PAL Discord registration are not automatically registered or approved. Please do not try to upvote during this process, as it could potentially cause an error in your first upvote.

Please note that we no longer require registration to the @banjo bot. The banjo vote was only ever a token placeholder vote for registration purposes, and had little monetary value.

There is now a process of verification which may take up to an hour. The moderators ask your patience during this process. If you have not been approved in an hour, please ask for your status in the registration channel.

After you have completed registration, please do not repeatedly enter the register or verify command in registration while we are verifying your application, as it needlessly clogs up the channel.

If you need help, ask for a moderator in chat, then please wait patiently for a reply, as sometimes we are busy or helping someone elsewhere.

Please follow this guide to get through the minimum required level of registration for use of the PALnet Discord and MinnowSupport bots.

This process is to prevent abuse of the bots. You are only allowed ONE account on Discord. Each account on Discord gets a single $upvote use every 12 hours. If you are found in violation of multi-account usage, you will be banned from the server.

Before we commence, a few quick guidelines to avoid annoying the moderators.

  • Please do not use the registration commands in any other channel except for #registration.

  • Please do not post steemit links, post promotion links, advertisements, contest or profile links in the registration channel.

  • Please do not use the upvote command in the registration channel. If you cannot upvote after registering, please ask for a moderators help in #general-shallowend channel for assistance.

The Process:

Once you have joined the PALnet Discord server, you will want to head to the 'registration' channel.

Click here for the Discord server invite if you need it.

reg-room

Now that you are in the correct channel, you can enter the registration commands.

Enter the following command, replacing 'username' with your exact steemit username, but without the @ sign before your steemit name.

$register username

After you enter the command correctly, you will see something like this:

bot-reply

If you do not see this screen, please go back to recheck the command. Make sure you are using $register, space, steemit name without the @ sign.

Follow those instructions, by doing the following:

Click on Wallet on your Steemit profile page.

blog-page

You can transfer either STEEM or SBD, since both have the memo option.

wallet-page

Fill out the steem or sbd transfer window using the details you received from the reply the minnowsupport bot gave you on Discord. Make sure you use the exact memo! Copy and pasting the memo is the easiest way to ensure no spelling errors.

transfer-win

Now, return to Discord and re-enter the command to register, again using your Steemit name (without the @ sign) in place of 'username'.

$register username

You will receive a reply from the bot with the status of your registration.

reg-result

If you receive a different message for the minnowsupport bot, check that you sent the correct memo to the bot, and that the transfer was completed. Try again.

If you still have issues, check with a Moderator.

If the bot indicates that you are registered, please wait for a moderator to review your application. Remember, this could take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, depending how busy we are and how many moderators are on line.

You may receive an approval message in the registration channel or in your messages.

Alternatively, if you notice that your white user name has turned gray, this also indicates that you are registered. If you click on your avatar, the title "registered" should appear.

While you are waiting for approval, please read over the upvote rules below. You are responsible for knowing these rules when you upvote.

You can also continue reading below for our community guidelines and rules, or feel free to introduce yourself in one of our main chat channels.

Rules for upvote!

Use only the #upvote channel to upvote!

1. You can upvote once every 12 hours. not sooner!

2. Make sure you wait at least 20 minutes after you post before upvoting!

If you try to upvote before the 12 hour cooldown or before 20 minutes after posting, you will be timed out by the upvote bot, and you will have to wait another 12 hours. Please read the reply the bot gives you to make sure the post is upvoted successfully.

3. Each post may only be voted on once by minnowsupport.

If your friend or another person from minnowsupport uses their $upvote attempt to upvote your post, you cannot also upvote the same post with the minnowsupport bot.

4. Make sure your post url link is correct - not one from a comment!

5. Make sure the command is written correctly > $upvote "url link"

6. Do not upvote a post older than 6.5 days, as you will lose the vote.

7. If you post plagiarized text or photos, are marked by cheetah or steemcleaner, or found to have too many low quality posts, the moderators may mute you, which means you lose your upvote priviledges.

Please familiarize yourself with theses two articles:

the Steemcleaners Plagiarism Guide,

and Photo plagiarism: If You Publish An Image, You'd Better Own The License For It

Generally posts with at least 100 or more words of original content is acceptable. If the moderators find that you are upvoting low quality posts, they can choose to mute you.

Definition of low quality posting

For example if you are posting only a meme, a generic youtube clip or an unoriginal photo with few words, quoting the daily weather, sports scores or crypto prices without any qualifying specific and detailed interpretation, or using unoriginal art or graphics without proper citation and with little original content, this is considered low quality content.

We consider this low effort posting and will no longer allow it to be upvoted by the bots. If you improve the content quality and make Original posts for a few weeks, you may go through Probation in order to get the mute lifted.

We all work hard to delegate our steem power to the bots and they are being used a lot. We want those votes going to people who are making great contributions to steemit.

If you have an issue with the upvote bot not working as you expect it to or need help with another matter, please ask in general chat shallow-end.

Please do not try to upvote a post in any another channel except for the upvote channel.

We are a networking resource first and foremost. We are starting to build many communities and channels here on the MSP-PAL server in order to meet other people who participate on the Steemit platform.

YO! PAY ATTENTION!!

Here a few basic guidelines that will help you here as you get started:

READ THE CHANNEL DESCRIPTIONS!
Feel free to explore the many channels and read their descriptions. Always check the channel descriptions to learn more about what a room is for. At the top of each page, you can read the channel title and description, where you will see the rules and topic of the channel posted there. Reading the description will often answer most of your questions. If you aren't sure or have a question, feel free to ask! Someone will be around to try to help out.

CHECK OUT THE PINNED MESSAGES!
Feel free to click on the pins, which are located to the upper right hand side of each page after the channel description. Always check pinned posts to learn more about what a room is for. Often there will be additional information, such as helpful posts, resources, rules and guides to help you along the way.

NO STEEMIT POSTS IN MOST CHANNELS!
You can direct people to your blog in DMs or conversation, but we do not link dump in this server, with the exception of the #post-promotion channel. In topic specific rooms that do allow linking, we encourage discussion, not just link pasting. Please try to contribute to the discussion!

NO PORN, VIOLENCE, OR PERSONAL INSULTS AND ATTACKS!
This server is 13+, and while certain channels can become a little explicit, we do not tolerate violent rhetoric. We do encourage everyone to resolve conflict peacefully and to ask for a moderator if you need help.

USE the BOTS in the CORRECT CHANNELS ONLY!
Upvote posts in #upvote, register in #registration, promo in #post-promotion. If the moderators have to warn you too many times about the rules, they may remove you from the server.

NO VOTE4VOTE or FOLLOW4FOLLOW BEGGING!
Not only is this annoying, it won't help in the long run! Please don't do this in Discord or in the Steemit comments!

Please read and understand our server protocol by reading our RULES and STANDARDS in the links below.

I joined the discord channel, thanks to @prc introducing minnowsupport project to me.

I'm on the #start-here following the "How to register" then #Registration but I have no permission to send message to this channel.

Please help and thank you.

At the time of this post, the Steemit nodes are experiencing a slowdown due to a need to update and address a recent security issue. The slow nodes have caused numerous disruptions in steemit apps and glitches in bot voting, the wallet voting power(25), bandwidth availability, and available steem power.

The slow nodes also effects the ability of the automated bot we use to register and upvote. We have locked the upvote and registration channels because they are not able to function correctly. When Steemit fixes the node issue we will reopen these rooms.

Please note that we have no specific time frame for when the bot will be up again. You are welcome to keep checking the registration channel for a reopening. This is a Steemit issue, and beyond our control. Please be patient while Steemit corrects the issue.

Thank you for your patience!

Thank you for your assistance.
