Would you do me a favor? I want to win a contest and I need votes. (Don't upvote this post!)
I'm really not a fan of contests where the person with the most votes wins. I think contests should be judged on content, not how many votes you can beg for. But there is just as much opportunity for poor judgement that route as there is for vote begging I suppose. So maybe there is no really good way to run contests on Steem.
That being said. I am in a contest where the upvotes are what counts, and there's a pretty good payout.
So I am coming out to my followers asking for you to trust that I wouldn't ask you to voter for crappy content, and go vote for me.

Could I ask you guys to go and give me an upvote? Even a 1% if you have a sliding scale since this is more about the votes than the value of the vote.

I started reading this and was about to reply that I have a contest which combines upvotes and a judge. Then I realised you were writing about my contest! :)
What do you think about the combination of upvote value and judged on content? Currently, in my contest, the judge will pick the winner from the Top3 most upvoted comments.

Yeah bud, no blame here. it is what it is. I don't know if there is a good way to make these things work. Or maybe my problem is I'm just not meant to be a winner since I am not very good at selling myself.
I think as long as the person running the challenge is doing their best to make sure quality entries rise up then there is no room for complaint. On the other hand, when someone who posts a plagiarized meme and wins a creativity contest over someone who posts their original art that took countless hours to do, there's where the problem is. And I have seen it happen.
