Bring Mindfulness to Everything That You Learn...

in #mindset5 years ago

Hi, fellow Steemians!

Motivational knowledge divides into two major sources of inspiration; philosophy and theory.

While philosophy predominantly discusses the meaning of life from a hopeful perspective, theory struggles to showcase techniques that help towards a more productive life.

While it is important to understand inspiring philosophy, the idea that our existence is unique and we are gifted with many opportunities, that we should have dreams and goals, and be willing to find the courage to chase after those dreams.

It is also important to understand that in order to achieve our goals, we need principle and determination.

Productivity is key in bringing these two elements in your life, and that is why we need theories about how to live an inspiring life.
But none of the above matters if we do not have mindfulness!

You can spend an eternity reading and indulging in motivational content and inspiring stories, but if you are not mindful of this great wisdom that you are inheriting, you will never be able to truly use it to your advantage.

It is the same ancient story about the sage who knew everything. He had spent decades and decades reading books and pouring thousands of hours into knowledge and wisdom. But as wise as he was, he could never exploit that wisdom to improve his own life.

Many would argue that the sage could envision anything but his own life. But I have a different take on that story; the sage could not use his own wisdom because he overestimated the capacity of conscious thought process.

In this blog, we have already discussed many techniques (theories) on how you can improve your productivity. We have also described many philosophical standpoints that give you a hopeful and positive mindset of the world that you are living in.

But even though you have stored this knowledge in your mind, you are not consciously using it on a daily basis. The main problem with lack of productivity in spite of great wisdom is this; our unwillingness to become more mindful of what we know and what we need to practice.

Let me explain my point about mindfulness by making an example. Imagine that you are well aware of the Pomodoro Technique, and might have even used it before to manage your time more precisely.

Mindfulness is the art of constantly triggering your mind into remembering this knowledge and hence using it in your daily life.

The only pathway to achieve mindfulness is to set specific triggers for different chunks of information that are stored in your brain.

By activating these triggers in your daily routine, you will inadvertently be reminded of all the things you know and it is only then when you can actually implement them!

For our example, if you want to be mindful of the Pomodoro Technique, you can buy an item which reminds you of it and place it where you usually work.

Always have it with you when you want to work. In that way, you will always be mindful of the Pomodoro Technique and will utilize it to manage your time.

Without mindfulness, most of what we know is pretty much useless and can never improve our life.

Starting today, be mindful of everything that you learn.

A BIG HUG!

Yes, be mindful of everything we've learned. Its kinda doing the right things perfectly. But sometimes focusing perfection would fail us and make us hesitant and afraid to make mistakes.

Putting too much good and right things in our brain would overflow our memory and tends to fall those necessary ones.
A space is needed to let those membranes breathe, enough to drive first those perfect cells to completion.

Saludos @chbartist!

Being mindful is important to avoid the distractions that could interrupt mines of thought needed to succeed when working on individual and group tasks. It will allow you to focus on the priorities of daily objectives that will align with goals.

I have never heard of the pomodoro technique but I like the idea of using triggers to remind yourself to be mindful. That makes sense to me. I'm on a huge mindfulness kick right now. I Recently started taking a course on mindfulness counseling for my graduate degree. I'm trying to implement the practice as much as possible in my day to day life and I'm really liking it so far. Your article is another reminder for me to be mindful. So thanks :)

Hello @chbartist!

About a year and a half ago I had to go to some psychology consultations because I was going through a depression, and they sent me to do some meditations based on the principle of mindfulness, and it helped me not only to help me with depression but also to be able to study more efficiently. At that time I was still studying music for many hours but on my own. And I noticed the changes because precisely this helps us to know ourselves better to put into practice the things we learn.

I'm going to investigate and try the Pomodoro technique to see how I'm doing this time, it will be interesting to try something new to cultivate mindfulness.

@chbartist sir
Pavlov Thorndike Kohler, etc, these all presented their own arguments on the learning process. The person keeps looking from birth to death. No person can be complete in learning. All the variables present on the earth gives us an opportunity to learn from dynamic and non-living things.
Time and circumstances are our biggest teachers who teach us how to live life. Our practical life habits get us learning from family and society. All the above things work as a source of philosophy and principle. The side of any positive learning connects us with philosophy and requires theories to learn these things. The person who is at his fault and learns quickly from the circumstances, the person leads on the path of success.

@chbartist Sir,

"......but if you are not mindful of this great wisdom that you are inheriting, you will never be able to truly use it to your advantage."

Well Said Sir.

Hi @chbartist. Be consistent with what we know and we practice, we will make more productive and inspiring to others, because we teach the example.

Applied knowledge is what makes all the difference.
