1000 followers but....

With the amount of bots that have flooded our beautiful little Steemit paradise, 1000 followers means a lot less than it used to. What really counts are the connections that are made behind the scenes, in the comments and replies and the Discord communities.

When I first started Steemit, I had never really written anything online and for most of my social media life, I was at best a disinterested lurker. However, these days, I'm keen to hop on board to Steemit and craft up a post or two, and then visit the various Discords and other people's blogs.

Somehow, there is something quite engaging about the semi-anonymity, the fact that I don't know anyone here in real life. It seems to lend a certain honesty and a lack of the humble-bragging that I see (especially amongst musicians) on the other social platforms. Or maybe it is the fact that it takes more than a little bit of time to write up a post that is worth reading?

At the risk of forgetting people, I'm not going to name anyone specific, but I'm going to focus on the communities that have really made a huge difference to my growth here on Steemit.

TeamAustralia

My first communities were #teamaustralia (community account @teamaustralia) and the PAL Discord. The support of the TeamAustralia team were crucial to my early growth, just having a @centerlink vote show up was a huge boost to the ego and the encouragement that I needed to keep chugging along! Thanks, I'm long overdue to write another post to donate the liquid reward back to the @teamaustralia account.

Classical-Music

My next stop is the #classical-music tag that was started by @remlaps. It has been fun and hard hard work to try and build up a community from the ground up, and I've continued to build upon the foundations that @remlaps has set up with the @classical-music and @classical-radio community accounts. Classical Music is a bit of niche interest on Steemit, but we are punching above our weight with a few Curies on board and some really super talented musicians posting in the tag.

Curation Groups

@qurator, @promo-mentors, @accelerator and @steem-engine, these groups have been a great support, getting exposure and feedback for my posting and also being a steady source of interesting articles from other people for me to read!

Also big thanks to the music accounts @musicvoter and @blockmountain and not least of all to @curie, thanks for dropping by occasionally, it really is always an incredibly pleasant surprise!

Information Finding Championship

I love this community (at @ifc by @apolymask), despite the fact that I've been a little lax in the recent quests for IFC. I've had so much fun writing posts for the various quests and especially in the early days, the provision of a topic to write about was such a great help to a novice writer and the friendly community is a great bonus!

Helping back

The curation contest at #payitforward by @thedarkhorse is a great way for me to help bring new authors to light, I highly recommend it!

I'm trying to find time to help back by writing a how-to guide series of posts for Steemit, but I lurk around on the @asapers, @newbieresteemday, @steembasicincome and @greetersguild. I haven't figured out how best to spend my time to help, but all these places are a good place for newbies to start at!

The Alliance

...and the last but definitely not the least, @thealliance. The family on Steemit for the person who doesn't know anyone here!

I hope I didn't forget any groups, I'm so tired at the moment, so I'm happy I able to hold a coherent thought for longer than a sentence! Individual people, everyone who have commented, upvoted or just interacted with! Thanks!!!
