Watching Cindy kiss Vaughan broke Bryan's heart.

Bryan knew he couldn't tell Cindy how he really felt.

Doing so would hurt his friend Vaughan.

And so, he resolved to live with the self-deceit

knowing he would never feel the love he truly desired,

as long as Cindy was with Vaughan.
