New Study Suggests Balancing Gut Bacteria Might Help Improve Anxiety Symptoms

There are millions of people out there today who suffer with anxiety and it's estimated that the anxiety industry will see revenue surpassing $3 billion by 2020. It's been said that we live in an age of anxiety because of how many are impacted; many people both young and old who are suffering with a myriad of anxiety disorders.

As a result of the problem we have seen a growing number of efforts to try and address the need that many have in dealing with their anxiety, whether that be with pills, weighted blankets, inflatable vests, or acupressure pillows etc, many potential solutions have come to market and been tried. The growing anxiety market is also why the CBD industry has been so successful as well. Because many people are turning to CBD to see if it might be able to offer them remedy from their anxiety disorder, and more.

Researchers believe that there are a range of factors that might work together to inevitably fuel someone's anxiety disorder, whether that be genetic or physical etc. The causes are not easy to isolate for everyone.

Now, researchers are finding that what you eat could also play a role in easing or boosting symptoms of anxiety as well.

In a study that was recently published in General Psychiatry, scientists assert that our microbiome, our gut bacteria, could have a profound impact on our mental health and overall well being. It's believed that a balanced gut flora or microbiome is going to help the immune and nervous system to keep working optimally; it's critical not to underestimate the importance of the gut.

As a part of the study, scientists had investigated the impact that probiotics had on anxiety, as well investigating studies on how changes to a diet might impact anxiety too. Scientists noted that for those who had anxiety and who had also taken probiotics, or those who changed their diets (without involving probiotics) that they saw their symptoms improve. However, they noticed a much more significant improvement for those who changed their diet without adding probiotic supplements, than for those who took probiotics. The authors of the study concluded that the non-probiotic intervention, with a diet change, was significantly a better option to help address anxiety symptoms.

This is important information for those who might be struggling with an anxiety disorder, because efforts to help regulate the gut bacteria could be used with other anti-anxiety measures to try and more successfully ease symptoms of anxiety.

New Study Suggests Balancing Gut Bacteria Might Help Improve Anxiety Symptoms....

Well, I'd certainly bet on that!

Great post my friend!

thank you! appreciate you taking the time to stop by while on your travels

Haha. It's one of the few times this year where I'm copying the 9-5 schedule of a girlfriend, here in Ecuador. Just staying in my Airbnb apartment on my computer all day. Will be editing over a 1000 photos and 150 video clips from the past couple months, and putting them in blog HTML format as well as socializing with you and others a bit more. But yes, it's always a pleasure, you have one the best blogs on steemit as far as I'm concerned.

I can totally see this. So often nerves manifest them self in upset stomach. I bet it can be the opposite as well. Makes total sense that a balanced bacteria level would lead to less uneasiness and then anxiety.

Cool!

Thank you for your post @doitvoluntarily, this might also explain why people with anxiety get stomach aches after eating. A change of diet and as well as taking some probiotics are sure to be helpful
