Erdogan says Turkey to boycott US electronic goods
ISTANBUL: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tues said Turkey would boycott United States of America electronic merchandise just like the iPhone in getting even for retributory sanctions from Washington, because the IIRA finally clawed back some ground when going into a tailspin over the tensions.
The dispute between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies — brought to a new intensity by Turkey’s holding of an U.S pastor for 2 years — has raised queries over the long run of their partnership and spread-out fears of a looming slump in Turkey.
“We will boycott us electronic goods,” Erdogan stated during a speech in national capital, conforming showing no sign of compromise in the aforementioned dispute.
“If (the United States) have the iPhone, there’s Samsung on the other side,” he said, pertaining to United States giant Apple’s exemplary phone and also the premium South Korean brand.
“We (also) have our Venus and Vestel,” he mentioned regarding native Turkish electronics brands.
Shares in Vestel zoomed up seven % on the city securities market after Erdogan’s remarks.
