Hi Steemit!

Welcome to Book Give Away #2! This week's books were donated by myself, but I will be pooling the SBD from these give-aways to purchase more books for winners to have an awesome selection to choose from. We have $4.087 SBD towards future book purchases, and my goal is to grow that number this week.

This week's book collection comes from Barefoot Books, who's mission is to build more kind children. This week each participant can earn a total of FOUR TICKETS

Ticket 1 In the comments, tell us which of this weeks available books would go best with your library

Ticket 2 In the comments, tell us which kind of book you would LOVE to see for future give-aways

Ticket 3 Upvote this post (and tell us in the comments)

Ticket 4 Re-Steem this post (and tell us in the comments)

I hope that everyone who has children around them takes the time to participate. All children benefit from books and all children love getting books in the mail just because.

Winner of this give-away will get to choose ONE of the following books. The book will be mailed to you and shipping will be paid for by @metzli (There is a cap of $10USD for shipping, if shipping for your region is more expensive, you will be asked to pay for the shipping difference of forfeit your prize).

  1. "The Tortoise's Gift" retold by Lori Don, its a small lightweight book which features a patient tortoise from Zambia. The book is valued at $8.99 USD

  2. "Bear on a Bike" by Stella Blackstone. A small hard cover book which introduces babies to different types of transportation. Valued at $6.99 USD

  3. "I Took the Moon for a Walk." by Carolyn Curtis. A large board book which tells a magical story about a boy taking the moon for a walk. Valued at $14.99 USD

  4. "The Boy Who Grew Flowers." by Jen Wojtowicz. Inspired by her brother who has autism, Wojtowicz tells the story of an unusual boy who's life is changed by a kind girl. A paperback book valued at $8.99 USD

  5. "Herb, the Vegetarian Dragon." by Jules Bass. A paperback book valued at $8.99 USD about a dragon who is vegetarian. His mean eating dragons "friends" don't like that one bit.

I would love to have the boy who grew flowers as my granddaughter might be in the spectrum (not diagnosed yet ) <3

I would love to send it your way.

Much love to you and your grand-daughter.

You have ticket #1, 2, and 3.

Thank you for up-voting, commenting and re-steeming.

Thank you <3 have you thought of expanding your giveaway to include digital versions like that you could send them to very remote places too all over the world :)

I don’t know how to do that. There is another group that does something similar to what you are saying and it’s definately on my radar as to gathering more information. If you know how, I’d love some resources.

I know that amazon lets you gift digital books I am actually looking into that myself it lists as option on specific books, I think apple does something similar

Hey, you've just been upvoted by the Steemit Book Project! The project exists to help make books more available to the world and to promote book-related content on Steemit.

You can read more about the project here. If you often write book related posts, head over to our Discord server (https://discord.gg/h93nHMu) and pop your book post links in the #curation-requests channel.

Hope you have a good day and find time to read a book!

Thank you for the invite. I have joined your server on Discord.

I look forward to growing both of our give-aways.

The dragon one or the flowers one look perfect for us.
I'd love to see... If there are any Shel Silverstein board books

The dragon book is very colorful.

I hadn’t thought about adding classics to the collections, because I see so many at little libraries and used bookstores. Maybe I can add some used books (in mint condition) to the pile 📖📓📚Thanks for your suggestion.

You have ticket #4, 5, and 6 (for the upvote)

Thanks for your support!

I love this project, and have upvoted you again. I think "I took the moon for a walk" sounds really interesting. I haven't heard of this book, but will look for it in our library. As for future books that is so hard, I love that you choose a selection as there are ones I haven't heard of or read before. Maybe books from around the world would be fun, introduce children to different cultures. OR educational books; like coding for beginners or books/audio CD to learn new languages. I love the idea that parents who aren't as confident could then learn alongside their child.

This collection is all from Barefoot Books. They try to be from “around the world” like with “Mama Panya’s Pancakes” but it’s hard for me to gauge how “authentic” they are. People seem to love the books though.

You are right in line with me regarding coding and computer books. I have a list of basic coding books, lift-the-flap how computers work, basics of computer science, that I’m curating. It’s about $115 USD of AMAZING books. I already have $4.087 SBD, and this is barely week 2, so I’m hopeful.

You have ticket #7, 8 and 9 (for the upvote).

Thanks for being a part of the project.

You've made some great choices 😀 I love your project

Thank you! I love my project too!

Upvoted, resteemed, and I love all the books but want you to send them to a child who doesn't have any.
I like to see more books with strong girls of all colors as the protagonist.

Thank you! That is a great suggestion. There’s Ana Hibiscus, Cordelia, and Amelia who could fly which immediately come to mind.

There’s also Rebel Girls, which is a good collection (but kind of heavy and expensive).

Are you buying the books you are giving away? Maybe you could have them send directly to the person who is getting the gift?

These specific books I bought specifically to get this project started. They were well priced and lightweight.

I plan on making this project big and helping many families grow libraries to their specific needs. When sending mini libraries I plan on sending directly from the publisher. I’m also looking into digital books for those participants who are far away.

One of my “jobs” is helping families find books for their specific needs based on age, reading level, interests, and region. Sometimes families have specific needs like illness in the family, or religious views that make them shy from certain books. I have a lot of information and know a lot of families but unfortunately personalized, high-quality books are expensive, that’s where this project comes in.

I don't need any of these books because the only children I am around don't speak English very well. I am in the Philippines and they read Tagalog. I like the idea though, so I will upvote and re-steem for you.

Thank you for your support.

This is a great giveaway!

The boy who grew flowers would be the most awesome book. My grandsons who are 6 and 7 love to read. Their parents are homesteaders and have two greenhouses. Their mother grows all types of flowers all over the homestead and they always help. They help plant the seeds, and plant the seedlings. This would be a darling book for them. For future giveaways I would love to see a book about ocean life for children. Thank you, such a darling idea.
