About 1 and half hour drive south west of tulum. We entered a mayan village where we were taken into the jungle and to one of the many entrances into the cave

We were harnessed up and repelled into the cave system below. Once in the cave we passed what the local mayans called the gate to the underworld. We continued passed it and crawled through little cavities down deeper into the underground.

On the way down we passed a countless number of stalagmites that had formed from the ceiling and the ground to eventually meet. To give you a rough idea on how long they take to form the following pictures shows you two that are about 350 years away from meeting.

We also passed multiple fossils cemented in the ceiling, mayan artifacts such as broken bowls/pots, previous cooking sites and much more.

Once we reached the bottom the cave opened right up into a very big peaceful area where we sat and listened to the water flow while we sat in the darkness. The water Trickling isn't a regular occurrence but due to large amounts of rain we got lucky ! In this open cave there are these stalagmites that geologists Can't explain how they were formed.

After resting in silence for 5-10 minutes we continued back the towards the way where we came until we got back to the gate of the underworld which we passed through this time to exit the cave.

After exiting the cave we headed to another cave which was a lot more opened we headed into a little section of the cave where we met a shaman where he performed a ritual and blessed everyone in the group. The mayan believe that being in the city's causes a lot of negative energy in and around us and this ritual would remove/relieve us of these negative energies.

After the ceremony we headed to another cave which had a beautiful private cenote. In this cenote we same and hung out for awhile.
