Loki Laufeyson was the son of both King Laufey and Queen Farbauti which the two of them are the leader of the Giants in Jotunheim.When he was born he was small compare to the other giants so he then was segregated from other giants. He then was adopted by Odin in which Loki using his magic of teleport where he can teleport from the future to the past.There is a two sides of him Loki of the future and Loki in present.Source here

He was envy of Thor where almost he has strength and bravery and above all , Thor is recognized by all the Asgardian people compare to him that only possessed magical powers. He has superhuman strength, superhuman durability, regenerative healing factor and shape-shifting. Aside from that he has genius level of intelligence and can speak all kinds of languages.Source here
