Is Instagram worth choosing over Snapchat?

Social media influencer all-around the world, having millions of followers, are trying to find out ways they can increase their followers. Having so many social media platforms in place to do the work, but I’m going to focus on Instagram and Snapchat, and a comparison of both the social media platforms for you guys to make a decision.

Snapchat had created the unique ephemeral feature for its audience having a video or picture to post for 24 hours. This unique feature put Snapchat to grow right after its launch. But even this feature wouldn’t have guaranteed it to become the first choice of influencers to opt for marketing and branding.

The potential of Snapchat to become a unique choice for influencers was put in jeopardy by Instagram.

Stats provided by Instagram shows that even before launching the feature of Instagram stories, it had 200M daily users’ interactions, which exceeded within two months of launching the feature from 200M to 250M daily users’ interactions. But, Snapchat, despite having first mover’s advantage, isn’t able to hit more than 166M daily interactions.

Another extra feature announced by Instagram is that it would let users replay live video instead of it disappearing right after the live stream is over. After the launch of its Instagram stories in January, Instagram provided the users with the option to save their live videos in March which made it align with the strategy of Facebook.

Some of the benefits that make influencers to choose Instagram over Snapchat every time is because,

Instagram makes it easier for users to search for and discover new users, but Snapchat requires exact Snapchat names to search for anyone.

The Insta Stories feature is an extra feature to an already-existed pictures and videos sharing platform, whereas Snapchat’s ephemeral content sharing feature is the only feature it provides.

You can add Hashtags and geotags in your Insta Stories, whereas it’s manually searchable on Snapchat.

Reasons to switch from Snapchat to Instagram would go on and on, but let’s discuss a few to help you choose it wisely.

Much Bigger Audience

Instagram has big user base—700 million and growing, already makes it the first choice for the influencers to opt for this platform as it provides Snapchat features as well as its signature Instagram features as well.

Geotagging Feature

Instagram utilizes Facebook ecosystem which helps it to create ad targeting capabilities robust. Instagram posts can use the geotagging system which helps influence to mention the places and Facebook ecosystem provides the ad framework having intricate details to target to most appropriate customers’ market relevant to a product and service.

Better Marketing Perspective

Instagram has been able to create a great following for a lot of influencers. Unlike Snapchat, Instagram makes it more marketing-friendly for influencers by having marketing tools to create and analyze data to figure out trends and to post and like followers pictures automatically via software like Later, Instagress and much more.
