The Ghanaian Market.

Is there any place in this world where there is no market? I believe almost every single society in this world we live in certainly has a market its inhabitants do visit. Be it big or small doesn't really matter but serving the needs for which it was established is what matters most. This is to say that markets are very important in every country. To some, it is the basis which the economy depends. Ghana is no exception to some of these analogies that make a country.

Ghana as one of the growing countries in Africa has many different markets. I actually have not visited so many markets around the world but upon my views on some markets around the world looks kind of different from the typical Ghanaian market. The beauty of our market is such an incredible one.

The Ghanaian markets come in different forms. Some are major markets within the country whilst others remain minor ones as well. But the difference isn't something so significant in as much as they all have almost the same features that make them from different markets around the world. I urge all my readers around the word the take a close look at the typical Ghanaian market and compare it to your local market. With the hopes that there is going to be some difference here.

Unlike many other markets scenes around the world, the Ghanaian market comes with a very unique identity which l believe you won't find this anywhere in the world. What then is the uniqueness of Ghanaian market? Most markets around the globe do trade in a particular ware or product which makes that market so known. That is to say that most markets I have seen at other places are noted for a particular product or services they mostly provide to its people.

The Ghanaian market has almost everything that everyone needs. Whatever is supposed to be sold everywhere in the world is certainly found at the Ghanaian market. And it really doesn't matter where the market really is. Its size never comes to question too. In as much as it has been spotted to be a market venture here in Ghana has everything for human consumption. From food to furniture, fruits to electricals, animals to clothing, electronics to services.

This is a major difference that the typical Ghanaian market poses. Its uniqueness is so significant in the growth of the country's economy.
Ghanaian women do trading much more than the men in the country. Trading in Ghana started when the very first settlers arrived during colonization. This has continued to make Ghana a busy and lucrative place for many business activities. Women are seen as early as 4:00 a.m at dawn busy walking to the market to begin their trading activity which some return as late as 11 pm.

There is the existence of modern markets like the supermarkets and shopping malls in the country but lots of people still believe in trading with the local markets for many reasons. Traders are found all over the streets of every Ghanaian market. Most are well organized and seated inside the markets waiting for buyers as always. But the availability of commodities at the front gates of the markets makes buyers to just buy from their disposal and leave the market early.

Here I share with you a section of the market in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. This place of the market is called Roman Hill. The streets look so busy and fully filled with lots of traders. Vehicular movements become a problem sometimes since the streets are all occupied. Many different commodities are available at this very place. Take a good look at some of the photos of the market scene from the Roman hill.

This is just the streets of the market I share. Inside the market is fully packed with lots of people offering huge transactions at the market. Now you have it all to compare the local Ghanaian market to the market at your end and see the difference this makes. I share this moment here in Ghana with all my readers on the most amazing weekend show #marketfriday which is initiated by @dswigle. Thanks for your time and stay with me for more beauty from Ghana. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Thank You, @mcsamm

This is one of the best posts you have ever presented, Sam! @mcsamm

I can honestly tell you that I study the markets from around the world and I look at the very details that you describe. It is very interesting to me how different and yet the same we all are.

Your markets are always streaming with commerce and people and it is always such a colorful scene. I saw some of my favorite yams in several scenes there. Yummy! The umbrellas to fend off the sun, so colorful as they line the street up one side and down the other. It is a look that I really do not see in many of the markets.

I find it amazing that people will park their goods wherever there is an empty spot, gathering in a friendly group to keep each other company as they hawk their goods. It is not only a business but, it is a social event of sorts.

It was wonderful to see this Sam and I am so glad you shared it to this extent and the words, explaining everything. This was a most amazing post.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to put it together and post it into the #MarketFriday Challenge.
