Shopping? I Don't Much Care For It

I have never been much of a shopper; unless it was grocery shopping and the occasional jaunt to the dollar store. Malls are too crowded, prices are too inflated for many items and products and I am a BIG saver. So shopping has never been my thing.

So today, on this traditional Black Friday shopping day, I am sticking to a more natural approach to shopping.

A River Runs Through It MEGA-Mall

This river (well, actually a creek) runs behind our property line and I went for my morning walk to get the old bones awake and for some fresh (yet very cold) air.

My first stop was Ma Nature's Craft Store, called the Pine Cone Bazaar. I have some last minute gifts (my homemade soap, hand lotion bars and cinnamon sugar almonds in jars) and I want to dazzle up the jars and packaging. So what's more seasonal than some mini pine cones!

I'll be using these along with some fabric and craft ribbon to jazz up the plain glass jars, then I'll add the gift tags and TA-DA a beautiful homemade gift. (I'll be posting some of the finished projects in the coming days)

The second stop on my shopping excursion is the seed store, also known as The Need Some Seed Place. So I headed down river and stopped at the spot I saw some yarrow plants on an earlier walk about ten days ago. As far as I can recall, the varieties are white and a lavender. Not sure which one was in stock as it is off-season, so I gathered a few knowing no matter which variety I get, I will be pleased with.

The third stop on this busy marketfriday was the butchers, also known as The Backyard Grill. I saw some fresh meat (squirrel in the tree) but my taste buds were calling for something different today. So I passed on the special of the day. Maybe next time.

The fourth and final stop today was the herbal store, known as Remedies In The Country. I was thinking about maybe getting some burdock root, but it is also off-season and looked like it needed to wait to be added to my herbal tea collection. I made a note to check back with the store manager come May and June 2018.

So there you have it, my Black Friday and marketfriday journey. Plenty of GREAT deals in my neck of the woods. How did you fair on this HUGE shopping day?

lol- yeah it is but I wanted to do a little something different than the norm. So I went off a little. "Foraging" the new shopping experience

Good

I thoroughly enjoyed this goldendawne. Nature has a lot of "goods" she offers us in many ways and no lines = )

Oh my gosh... no lines is the truth...I just had a nosey dog that want to go to the Dog Run Store. lol

This is too cute! I'm thankful that I was able to get all of my Christmas shopping done early. I think I was officially done on Wednesday. I'm spending this Black Friday working (even though we're at half-staff and totally dead). I wish I was able to go out and take pictures on this beautiful morning instead!

My husband is working today too. Not much fun.
Sorry you're stuck indoors today.
I have NEVER participated in the mad rush of Black Friday. I just don't care for crowds, spending money or losing sleep lol

I also try to make my gifts at home, but little time and many things, happy Friday

Yes time is always an issue. Always so busy and so many tasks unfinished!
happy Friday to you too!

that is if the hands run like the head

That's a fantastic Black Friday shopping trip! We all could use more of this type of shopping for sure!

It is amazing what you see while out walking in the early morning hours. I've been wanting to do this type of marketfriday for a couple of weeks and today was a good day; with all those people online and in stores shopping

I love your store!! My kind of a place! Well done and I think I would have passed on the meat special too lol. Resteemed and upvoted :)

lol- thank you!
My husband loves squirrel and rabbit... I'm more of the venison type.

I am old enough to remember when "Black Friday" was not a thing. I miss those days... I do not participate. In fact, unless there is some dire emergency, I will not be going to Boise until after the New Year. NONE of the sales are worth the traffic, the lines, and the people who tend to be less than merry...

Same here. I despise shopping, malls, crowds and all the ridiculous-ness that goes along with it. I am a homebody by nature and if given the choice? STAY HOME!

I can understand wanting to save money, as I am frugal, but I don't think it's worth the time "wasted", driving, loss of sleep, etc just to say... I got a good deal on this Super HD Convex Distortion TV adapter with surround sound and 3D binoculars... yada-yada-yada

Haha! You KNOW I love your posts! This is the kind of shopping that puts the world on a tilt.

Thank you so much for sharing your foraging world with us. I just know that there is so much to be learned and with each post, you push more and more information out there!

Thank you so much! Upped and Steemed

thank you!!! I am planning a few more shopping outings like this in the near future. I like to add a little whimsical humor some days

Love your photos & "approach" to black Friday

ANYWAY, I completely agree with you. Black Friday sucks. I did it once as a teen stood in line with my mom for two hours for a "cute sweater"
She should've taken me hiking instead
