Market Friday goes Cruising

in #marketfriday6 years ago (edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise! That is me!)

I hope you will join us as we share the different markets from all over the world. I have always and forever loved traveling and I find it simply fascinating to go to the markets. Who doesn't love to see what they are selling? There is always a curiosity attached to foreign ingredients, different produce or any product sold. So, yes! I would love to see yours! So don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery, art galleries, wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Don't forget to use the hashtag #marketfriday and @dswigle.

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place!! Thank you! ❤

I need to take some vacation, partly because I desperately need to take some time off and the other is to take some time and compare cruise lines and figure out which one is for me. I was reluctant to go on a cruise because I really like traveling to one place and putting down roots for a moment or three. But, the lure of having someone make my bed, clean my room and make gourmet meals for me three times a day. Well, today for a brief time, it sort of appealed to me.

So, I did a little homework on the different lines and where they were ported and what they had to offer. It was amazing to see how much they were alike and the huge disparity between the entertainment offered.

First off! It is huge! I mean huge! Can you hear down at the end of the pier? It was huge! It carried around 6,000 passengers.

The Anthem of the Seas and her sister ship Quantum (which is now permanently stationed in China) are twin images, but the interiors are finished off a little bit different. The Quantum was built for China and was decorated to fit that culture. The Anthem is out of Cape Liberty, New Jersey.

Anthem 4.JPG

It has two outdoor jogging tracks and one inside. The top deck is probably the most popular and there is always somebody on it 24/7 rain or shine, baby. Hit the bricks.

Anthem 6.JPG

Where I come from, shuffleboard was for the older people. Here, everyone plays it.

Goes to show you, I know nothing. I will admit that I now know how to play shuffleboard. For real.

IMG_7760-001.JPG

This is called the North Star. It goes above the ship and over the water where the views are pretty amazing. I went on it probably about ten times and it got stuck in the up position twice. It was a little windy and there were a couple claustrophobics in there. Yikes. They weren't pretty. I am pretty sure it wasn't fun for them either.

The view from the top. I could show you all the different views, but, for brevity, let's just say that they were all extremely cool and very beautiul.

Truth.

Anthem 2.JPG

Oh, the Flow Rider. I tried it out. Oh, was I humbled pretty fast. I went out and fell. I went back and fell. I went back again and fell.

Totally humiliated, I went the last day and stayed up. Yay me! It is alot harder than it looks although the lifeguard there will do flips and twist and all sorts of showoff amazing moves and make you feel like you can do this too! You probably can't. No reason to be humbled on your vacation.

Run in the other direction. Unless you surf. They you might have a chance.

Anthem3.JPG

Have you ever dreamed of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane? Yeah, I love it too! I went in the ifly I think it does a pretty good job of simulating your jump. Darn cool tool

I almost made it to Mother Earth, but he cut my cords before I could land.

Maybe next time.

My sister went with me and well, let's just say I had to keep an eye on her.

The different ships have varying degrees of nice in the same balcony room.

IMG_7756.JPG

There is even a difference in square footage. The mid-sized ships had the largest rooms while the largest and smallest ships have the smallest rooms, not incuding the special suites. Those are just amazing.

So, where do you think she is? In the elevator you say? Yes!! Every elevator had a different picture. I had to smile every time I walked into an elevator!

This was a cruise that had some VIP artists for a small group of guests. It was nice to be able to have dinner and drinks and get to know some of these amazingly talented people.

()

Michael Goddard was there. The man is a rock star. I love you, my olive man.
All his art has an olive in corporated in it somewhere. Yes. I own it.
He has his own personal story he carries around. It only makes me like him more.
He is from Arizona. I am not sure how many know him. It might be only me. ;)

Of course, he brought along David Le Batard, known in the art world as LeBo He is a Cuban-American living in Miami. He does murals, scultpures and he paints. Every single one of his paintings has a story and he doesn't mind telling you.

There were bumper cars, an iceskating rink, roller rink..

IMG_7772.JPG

There was even a trapeze school. Yes, I did. Suffice to say, I won't be making my living that way.

IMG_8722.JPG

I'll take you on a quick walkabout of the ship. It's big. Sorry this is taking so long....

IMG_8398.JPG

This was called a earth harp and was one of the most amazing instruments I have ever seen! It rran the length of the theater and had the most incredible sound. Google it to hear it.

Yes, there was a casino, but, I don't really gamble so , I never saw it exceptto take this picture. It is also one of the only places they let people smoke another reason to not want to go in there.

There are good times to be had on the ships, but, I will admit that they are not for everrbody. I mean, there are days I don't want that mani/pedi, massage with essentia oils, a facial, or any of that pampering.

But the difference in small ship versus large is personal choicee, although I will say that the big ones have superb entertainment, as do the medium, but the small are very nice, yet, the entertainments lacks. So, it is a personal choice. I like the very small with the personal touch or the medium that has all the entertainment and not so big.

Well, thank you, as always for coming along with me to my #MarketFriday adventure. I hope that you had one too. I look forward to reading them! Don't forget to peruse the other Markets that are linked below! They are from all over the world and I must say, quite interesting in so many ways. Enjoy!!

Wonderful market friday...been dreaming to cruise one day😊

What an awesome MF!!! Every week I think there is no way to top the previous week, and yet you always do! Simply incredible. I've never been on a cruise, but I sure want to now!

Oh, we have gotta get you on a cruise! I think you would really like it. Nothing quite like the pampering and letting them take good care of you.

Thank you for your comments! You know that flattery will get you everywhere!

Tip!

We could have a Steemit Photographers' Cruise! LOL!

Oh, doesn't that sound delightful!

Can you believe in the middle of Mary and the Witches Flower it dawned on me I forgot my link!

What a roaring roller coaster ride on a cruise liner, it even has hot male gypsies in it masquerading as Artists! Who could ask for more, giant glass fish bowls that rise high into the air, an earth harp, trapeze (now I would have liked to see a photo of you on that ;-) great food and company. A thoroughly great read, and you've inspired me to give #marketfriday a try myself!

They can be fun and you can see me on the ifly but my sister's shots on the trapeze were too fuzzy. But, oh, baby! What an adrenaline rush!:) Especially when I fell into the net, just like the amateur that I am. Who could resist that?

The food was great and they serve coffee from around the world. I still like going to location vacations, but, these are fun at times. :)

I saw that you posted one! I am so happy! Never too late or early!!! We are easygoing here!

Tip!

Good grief, there is enough material in here for ten posts!

Hehe, it looks amazing. I have never seen such a giant ship as that one

Oh, if only I could learn to pair it down a bit! I never know where to cut !

I can tell you the one thing that I did like is they have a sitter service and daycare and you can still enjoy a good time while on vacation. Win-Win

Thanks for visiting #MarketFriday! Tip!

A sitter service and daycare sounds awesome!

I know, right?

Wow wow and then wow, what an epic ship and cruise. Was that you on the trapeze? Please tell me you have some video? lol Looks like you had a fabulous time cruising the islands. Nice one Denise. tip!

Thank you so much, Michael! It was a much needed time away, even though it was only for two weeks and not nearly long enough.

I was on the trapeze but that is not a picture of me. My sister was taking the pictures and blurred them with the motion. But, it was fun and i would definitely do it again. I like to give everything a try. Why not, right??

Thanks for visiting! You are the best!

Tip!

https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@deadgrlsuppastar/market-friday-getting-some-afternoon

You didn't but that is so sweet of you! I am not even sure why I added it! LOL Well, I am off to your market! I hope you have a wonderful night! tip!

I simply loved that post! Great images to support your post! That big ship sure had loads of unique stuff to do on board! I don't care too much about on board entertainment, so the smaller ships are my favorites! I like to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by - slowly!

I love Puerto Rico too. We have been 3 times now on different Caribbean cruises!

I have started to get excited about the cruise we will take to Alaska this summer! All our cruises have been to the Bahamas or the Caribbean because - well we live in Florida and can always get good deals at the last minute!

How cool, Diane! Yes, living in Florida definitely would have its advantages. although Baltimore is less than a hour from us and Cape Liberty is only 3 . So we have nothing to complain about.

My sister in law is from Puerto Rico, so we have spent much time just being there but I love when the cruise ships stop in old san juan. I love that part. The old colonial buildings from days gone by. I haven't been back since the hurricane, but pictures being sent are sad.

I am excited about your trip to Alaska this summer. That is one of those places I have not been but will wait until I can spend the time doing the Yukon and train too.

I look forward to pictures of that!

Thanks for perusing the market! tip!

There are so many neat places to see on this earth, and so little time! LOL! Our big trip is next year to Tahiti! I have been to Fiji, but this will be a first to Tahiti for me. Jim traveled there several times before we met and has always wanted to take me there! And thanks so much for the tip! LOL!
