A More Special Friday

Today is Friday. The day when many of us are accustomed to sharing their shopping experiences. Not necessarily to buy but to see what can be bought. We don't allow everything, of course. Unfortunately, we are getting less or less needed. Perhaps it is better if we consume less and thus contribute to saving the earth. For our children in particular.

Today is Friday. A more special Friday. To explain why I think it is so I have to say a few things about myself. I am from Romania, Eastern Europe. At this moment I live in two cities, in Iasi and Bucharest. Alternatively, of course. A few months in a city and a few days in the other ...

Today is Friday. A more special Friday. Here's why... Romania is a Christian, Orthodox country. This year we have Easter celebrations a week later than Catholic Christians. A problem of calendars and old misunderstandings.

I would like to talk more about this great celebration of Christians. I do not think I could do better than these great artists did: singers, composers, movie makers! A fragment of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Now I want to tell you a story. I say it as I know it now, I may be making mistakes, but I want to say it as I know it and I do not want to call on Google to check it out. Many think it's not a story ...

Several thousands of years ago, in Egypt. The Jews were slaves and Moses, their leader, tried to free them and organize them to flee to their country. Ramses, the pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, of course, didn't want this, and he was opposed with all his might. It is said that the Lord who wanted the deliverance of the Jews told Moses to command the Jews that each family sacrificed a lamb and blood to color the pillars of their homes. Thus the Lord, who will kill all the newborns of men and animals that night, will know where the children of the Jews are and don't kill them. Thus the lamb's sacrifice saved the Jewish children.

So, after thousands of years, we continue to thank the lambs for this sacrifice. Sacrificing them every year!

A kind of lamb dish. In Romanian it is called "drob".

This presentation is made only as an example of preparation and not an exact recipe. So I prepare this "drob" and it's the result of the shopping made on the market. A too crowded and messy market so I can show it here. Denise knows, in the past I used to look first at the market and then use the ingredients bought to cook something. Now I will only show the second part.

We use lambs: heart, lung, kidney, liver and many vegetables: onion, dill, garlic, parsley and mushrooms. Salt, oil and pepper. Eggs and butter.

The lamb

The organs of the lamb are boiled in salt water. Then cut into small pieces ...

Vegetables and greens

Mushrooms cut into small pieces. Green onions and green garlic sliced. Dill, the same.

Just mix everything. First, the vegetables are put in a pot, add oil and fry them a little.

From now on you will have to believe me ... I forgot to take pictures at this stage of cooking. Because I was doing a lot of things at the same time and it was only late that I realized I had not photographed.

So, it was still so ... I mixed lamb with vegetables, I added butter and eggs. I mixed well and put it in the oven. That's the result. I cannot show you what it looks like on the plate because we will not eat it until Sunday.

I'm sorry if I did not manage to present the recipe so well that whoever wants to try it. I hope you will notice that this is not the message and the meaning of this blog as I wanted to do it.
