Sometimes You Got to Let Down Your Hair a Bit

What happens when you were asked to sing an African American style Praise and Worship?

You let your hair down man!

That's one of the choir members mentioned on Thursday when we were practicing, and you can actually see how we were though unprepared, just went with the flow with the song in my previous post Fun Rehearsal for All Ages.

I personally admit that sometimes I am a little too serious when people tend to talk to me (oh don't get the #teammalaysia family started!) and felt it that way; but not during choir praise and worship. I have a fantastic extended family of God of all ages who will just be our best cheeky-ness when we come together and just worship God with our super cute and talented choirmaster.

(I shall refrain posting her photo here until I have her permission haha)

This photo is just about 60% of our regular choir size as some were away and some were not feeling well, but we had our wonderful times when we were 100 strong during special occasions.

To be honest, singing however you deliver it, really is good for your health as when you sing (especially in the choir), you exercise your lungs, and your stomach muscles; not to mention you get to let all the hot air out from you when you project your voice out.

(trust me, you BURN your calories!)

To me it's way much practical than screaming out by the sea with crashing waves or when a plan ascends or descends, although I too agree those are very therapeutic.

Even the old scriptures that is more than 2000 years old stated:

Praise the LORD.Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Psalm 150:1-5

I'd pretty much can imagine now noisy yet melodious that must have been during the days of old, with all of these instruments. The joy and laughter just brings the colours of life out with music and singing.

So if you have never tried singing in a choir before, never hesitate to join, including flash mobs though can be tiring (depending the size of the mob) but I can tell you. You need that kind of fun once a while, like children.

Also the reason why despite that my mouth was not totally recovered, I still came for practice and served on Sunday. Simply to just enjoy the fellowship with God and my fellow countrymen.

Until then

Thank you for sharing, remembering I used to sing in the chorus of ceremonial raise ceremonies at school, everyone has different singing skills and some people are very adept at doing it because of their natural talent.

That's really awesome! We call them harmonising here, which is tons of fun, including those who seemed out of tune, but when all come together and unite their voices in harmonious rhythm, it becomes a beautiful orchestra.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment.

It's always fun to sing the songs we like... :)

Or sometimes when we have no idea how to sing and just learn it, and whack it hahaha...

I think it is more fun along the process when you get to learn new songs together, because it is a growing together experience as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Would love to see you sing and praise. Share a video some time.

haha... @dawnsheree
We had an uncut version of the praise song we had on my previous post
Fun Rehearsal for All Ages

We were tired from all the practices but we had fun.
