"Make It Healthy LUNCHBOX" #3 || Healthy Ideas & Recipes for this Week's Lunchboxes!
A few healthy ideas and recipes for this week's lunchboxes!
Our cultures are designed very much around consumerism and clever marketing ploys to persuade people that this product is the 'must have', or can benefit us in some unique way. We get lured by labels such as "now with 50% LESS sugar!" or "virtually fat free!" or "high in Omega 3", and often don't read anything beyond that, not even the ingredient label.
We get a fixed notion that certain commercial products are healthy, such as cereal bars, boxed salads, deli soups, and sandwiches that contain salad. We choose the 'no mayo' options and proudly request brown bread rather than white. But are these things really healthy, or just in a clever disguise?
Unless we start to give it some serious thought, it may be illness later on in life that reveals our diet choices played a bigger part than we realised. Worst - if we find out one day that the products we'd been feeding our children for years are actually responsible for their nutrition deficiencies, hormone disruptions, poor immune function, behaviour issues, allergies, skin problems, weight regulation problems, and the list goes on and on.
In the natural world, other animals and plants don't deliberately eat things that would harm them. They're well aware of which are food and which are poison. We all know the story of Snow White and the wicked witch who tricks her into biting the poison apple, and as children we shout at the TV screen "don't eat it Snow White!!!" She had no way of knowing, but we don't have that excuse. The truth is there if we're paying attention and using our heads, and my question is:
What idiot would knowingly eat the poison apple?

You're welcome! Thank you for posting a snack recipe... most people post dinners and desserts rather than snacks so it's slim pickings for the LUNCHBOX series! But even a few to share are great so I'm happy!
