MacroChallenge - Hanging on for dear life
The photo below is my entry for MacroChallenge Week 1.
It is the molted shell of a cicada bug hanging out on a tiger lily leaf.
Here's another image of a molted cicada shell.
This year, the Washington DC area experienced an unexpected early arrival of the 17 year cicada Brood X, which is expected to fully emerge in 2021.

Those are some creepy looking, hairy bugs. Stay safe from your cicada invasion!!! And don't forget to stock up on earplugs.
Fortunately, they have all emerged-->molted-->made a lot of noise-->mated-->died, and the new round burrowed back underground. There are still crunchy shells lying all around though, and obviously some are still frozen in their final position. Definitely earplugs pre-ordered for 2021.
