Share a Favorite Song Lyric 5/3/2018
If you have been following me at all, you should know by now that I love music.
I love listening to new music, I love hearing old songs in a new way, I also love most any type of music.
I have an older record player and receiver at home and one of my favorite things to do is listen to albums on it.
I try to pick up new vinyl whenever I can at thrift stores, garage sales, and on Ebay. Amazon also started a program where if you purchase a copy of certain albums on vinyl you also get a digital download of the album.
That service by Amazon leads me to my lyric selection for this post.
I have always been a huge Counting Crows fan. They are probably one of my most favorite bands. Adam Duritz has a great way of weaving words together in a lyric that has intense and deep meaning.
I could, and will in the future probably cover many Counting Crows songs in this series.
Somewhere Under Wonderland
Is from their latest album and I picked it up through Amazon on vinyl. As I mentioned because of that I got a free digital copy of the album to listen to on my phone.
Their album before this was more of a cover album where they sang songs by other bands that they respected and enjoyed. While their newer album is more of a return to their roots, writing and singing their own songs.
I know it took me a bit to get here, but my favorite lyric is about halfway through the song:
I said headlights pin the highway down
Jesus spins the world around
And I’ll spend all my tomorrows coming down
Goodbye all my days.
I know I said I never loved you
But I might just try again tonight.
As I listen to this song, especially this part, I can just imagine driving somewhere in the night. Maybe back home or to an ex's house. I don't know if I can fully put into words how much this lyric moves me and part of me doesn't know if I should even try.

That's an interesting song/lyric you chose (although very different to my taste).
choosing a favourite lyric is a very tough choice; so many clever lines and catchy tunes. Marina and the Diamonds is someone with superb lyrics constantly, and this is from her song 'Immortals':
