Love Friday — calling on angels....steemCreated with Sketch.

in #lovefriday6 years ago

Years ago when my children were younger I had an encounter with angels. Not the white robed, winged kind — well they might actually look like that in the spirit realm, but in the temporal realm they looked like men.

I had just dropped my two boys off at Mini School during a blizzard. After bundling the kids up, packing them into the car and getting them into the school, undressing them again and trudging back to my car through the snow, I was already exhausted and my day had just begun.

Cleaning off the windshield once more and brushing myself off, I slipped into the driver’s seat and turned the key. My car, a real bucket of bolts, would not start. I was going to be late for work….again.

Panic set in.

The snow was getting worse by the minute and I could barely see out my windshield. I bent my head down, probably swore and most likely uttered a prayer. I wasn’t a Christian at the time, nor particularly religious.

There was a knock at my window and I saw a person. It startled me. I do not recall a face. Just a hoodie with snow covering the form. I rolled my window down enough to hear what he had to say and to keep safe from his being able to stick a hand into my car if that was the intention.

He said, “Don’t be afraid”. And that’s all.

Then he pointed to the hood and to the hood release under my dashboard.

I obeyed. I pulled the release. He lifted the hood and made some adjustments then closed it. I saw two men. I don’t recall seeing the second man prior. Both were identical in appearance. Both wearing hoodies and covered in snow.

One signalled for me to crank the engine.

In the time it took me to I bow my head to turn the key and look up to say thank you, they were gone.

I stared for a long time into the space they occupied. The snow was heavier and I could hardly see past the end of the car. I turned on my wind shield wipers. The men were gone.

I wondered if they ever were there. It made no sense to my mind. There were no snow prints on the sidewalk in front or to the side of the car - coming or going.

Something “spiritual” had happened but I didn’t fully understand. I was overcome with a peace I couldn’t explain or describe.

Now that I am a Christian and look back to that day and other days, I see that God did indeed charge his angels to watch over me.

Why doesn’t God save physical lives instead of cars? Or help others from worse situations? He does but not everyone every time. I don’t know God’s ways entirely. I could speculate or philosophize about it to no end.

I just know that He had a reason for that day for me.

“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people
have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
~Hebrews 13:2

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve
those who will inherit salvation?”
~ Hebrews 1:14

For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
~ Psalms 91:11

Angels on assignment...we'll never understand the how or why. The best posts are real

I hope people believe me....it was real.

it has verisimilitude, countrygirl - there's word for you :)

I just know that He had a reason for that day for me.

His daughter was in need and He sent some friends to help.

I love reading stories like this. Thank you for sharing @countrygirl. :)

Thanks @lydon.sipe. God definitely provided for me that day - I was certainly not a deserving recipient of that kindness that is for sure. He demonstrated grace to me.

Sometimes it's better not to look too deeply as to the reasoning, but rather just accept that you were being looked after that day!!! Nice post.

That's very true otherwise the temptation is to worship angels. And I'm not about to do that :)
Thanks for reading my story @cognoscere.

Beautifully inspiring post. Moments like those are game changers...at least for me. I believe. :)

Yes they are. Thanks for reading it @tinajordan. I appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for sharing this personal testimony as it strengthens our faith to know God send His angels to minister and to help us in difficult times.

Thanks for reading my story @hope777. It's good to hear feedback.

Beautiful story! :)

Thank you Liliana! Thanks for #lovefriday....it's really given me pause to think about the good in my life.

Thay's wonderful! That makes me proud :)

Awesome heartwarming story, and love the scriptures to back it up! Brought back so many memories of driving through the snow to bring my kids to school when i lived in Canada. Then we moved to the States and they closed the schools when we had snow flurries! LOL!

I will participate one of these Fridays. At the moment I'm doing the gratefulvibes challenge because 1/2 of the SBD on@paradise-found's post is going to overseas missions. You may want to check it out too. You wouldn't have to do it every single day. (I missed yesterday.) :-)

Yes, but did you have angels knocking on your window?? hmmm??

Not I! :-) You were chosen. LOL!

Clearly!! lol.

Modest too. LOL! LOl!

Huh-uh. This ministered to me. I had been rusty for some time now concerning the reality of God, angels, etc. Its always good when the realisation of God's love is evergreen in one's heart. It will help us to know that God is thinking about us, no matter the situation we are in.

Thanks for posting this, @countrygirl.

I'm glad my story ministered to you. We all need a boost every now and again.
