Stunning winter tour through a gorge - Atemberaubende Wintertour durch eine Schlucht
Yesterday I did a little winter tour in the Allgäu. First I hiked through the beautiful Eistobel. In order to satisfy my longing for the mountains, I climbed up a mountain to enjoy the beautiful sunset as the conclusion of the tour.
It was a wonderful winter tour, here I would like to share some impressions with you.
Gestern habe ich eine kleine Wintertour im Allgäu gemacht. Zuerst bin ich durch die wunderschöne Eistobel gelaufen. Um meine Sehnsüchte nach den Bergen etwas zu stillen, bin ich im Anschluss danach noch auf einen Berg gestiegen um von dort aus den wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang zu genießen.
Es war eine wunderbare Wintertour, hier möchte ich ein paar Eindrücke mit euch teilen.

The Eistobel is a gorge along the Argen, a natural mountain river near Maierhöfen near Isny im Allgäu. In the beautiful Tobel you can expect rushing waterfalls, huge field walls, deep swirl holes and huge blocks of rocks. Even rare bird species can be observed there. Especially in winter, the Eistobel is particularly appealing, as the water breaks through the ice forms.
A unique natural spectacle.
Die Eistobel ist eine Schlucht entlang der Argen, einem naturnahen Gebirgsfluss, in der Nähe von Maierhöfen bei Isny im Allgäu. In der wunderschönen Tobel erwarten einen rauschende Wasserfälle, gewaltige Feldwände, tiefe Strudellöcher und riesige Gesteinsblöcke. Auch seltene Vogelarten lassen sich dort beobachten. Gerade im Winter ist die Eistobel besonders reizvoll, da sich das Wasser durch die Eisformen bahnt.

But this winter beauty also brings some dangers with it. The Eistobel is officially closed in winter, the path is not cleared. Good mountain boots and light crampons are therefore necessary when it goes through the icy and snowy gorge. A careful look upwards is also advisable in the Tobel, as one sometimes runs under huge icicles. According to locals, there were already some accidents in the gorge, because visitors were seriously injured by falling icy pegs. Also, a reason why the Eistobel is officially closed over the winter months.
Every visitor enters the Tobel at his own risk!
Diese winterliche Schönheit bringt aber auch einige Gefahren mit sich. Die Eistobel ist im Winter offiziell gesperrt, es werden keine Wege geräumt. Gute Bergschuhe und leichte Steigeisen (Grödel) sind also notwendig, wenn es durch die vereiste und zugeschneite Schlucht geht. Auch ein achtsamer Blick nach oben ist in der Tobel ratsam, da man teilweise unter riesigen Eiszapfen läuft. Laut Einheimischen gab es in der Schlucht deswegen auch schon einige Unfälle, weil Besucher von herabfliegenden Eistapfen lebensgefährlich verletzt wurden. Auch ein Grund warum die Eistobel über die Wintermonate offiziell geschlossen ist.
Jeder Besucher betritt die Tobel auf eigene Gefahr!

After the breathtaking tour through the Eistobel it then went on to a small mountain, the Riedholzer Kugel (1066m), in the northern end of the Allgäu Alps. During the ascent along the beautiful snowy forests, streams, and waterfalls I discovered a beautiful halo effect in the sky. When I arrived on the mountain, I finished the evening slowly with a delicious snack and the beautiful sunset, before going back to the parking lot.
Nach der atemberaubenden Tour durch die Eistobel ging es dann noch weiter auf einen kleinen Berg, die Riedholzer Kugel (1066m), im Nordauslauf der Allgäuer Alpen. Beim Aufstieg entlang der wunderschön verschneiten Wälder, Bäche und Wasserfälle entdeckte ich dann einen wunderschönen Halo Effekt am Himmel. Als ich auf dem Berg angekommen war, lies ich bei einer leckeren Brotzeit und dem wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang den Abend langsam ausklingen, bevor es zurück zum Parkplatz ging.

A really beautiful tour and a unique natural spectacle.
The Eistobel and the beautiful surroundings I can recommend to anyone, if you should be close, or planning a holiday in the Allgäu Alps.
Eine wirklich wunderschöne Tour und ein einzigartiges Naturschauspiel.
Die Eistobel und die schöne Umgebung kann ich jedem empfehlen, wenn man mal in der Nähe sein sollte, oder einen Urlaub in den Allgäuer Alpen plant. ;-)
