Do you know the Lizard on your wall is Gecko!
Yess... Thats right, the name looks quite stylish and attractive, even I also never bothered to know about the Lizards. They are quite little reptiles and can be seen on many Indian home. Crawling on your walls, preying on the flies and sometime scares you too.
The one found in our homes are called Gecko. The more important features of these Gecko reptiles is that these are the only species which can make sounds, else no other species can make sounds. Watching at these yellowish wheatish Reptiles on my walls push me to know more about it. To a surprise, these are one of the better looking animal that always be found around us not like creepy insects like spiders.
One of the amazing facts that i came across about Lizards is that , they are considered to be luck symbol in ancient Roman and Greek culture. Still in many countries people use decorative and designer lizards arts in their wall to bring Good luck and Fortune. Apart from this there are many unknown facts about these Lizards.
There are around 5600 different species of Lizards.
Lizards exists since 200 millions years ago from Dinausors age.
Lizards are attracted towards lights. And helps in eating all the flies mosquitoes and moths.
These Lizards are not harmful to humans, still the spotty walls and cloth are resuls of these Lizards. These usually contaminate the utensils and dishes if remail uncovered, so it is better towash them before put into use.

Lizards are also considered as luck symbol in Hinduism as well. There are even temples in South India where lizards are worshipped as a deity.

Yes there are quite a few temples available @inuke. They will not have a separate deity there but there will be a corner where it will be there on the wall and plated with gold.
We call them as cicak in Indonesia 😁
In Hindi we call them chipkali
