JCA Blog #1: Keep on Trucking
Hello Wonderful People of Steemit,
I want to share some good news. Both of my grandparents are healthy enough to leave the hospital today!
My grandfather had a heart attack a two weeks ago. He survived it and have since been recovering in the hospital. Shortly after, my grandmother told the family that she was in pain and had a shortness of breath. The doctors discovered that she had an infection in the lungs and was required to stay in the hospital for treatment.
I listen to grandmother very closely because she sounds like Confucius when she talks. My grandfather constantly asks questions about his surroundings. I think curiosity helps in keeping him youthful. The two have lived through so much. Seeing them makes me excited about my future. I admire both of my grandparents dearly and can only hope to be as wise.
I went to my hometown last weekend to see my grandparents. Here is a picture from my visit.
Here is a picture of my grandmother. Easily one of my favorite people on this planet!
I am writing to those of you who have ideas or projects worth working on. Let this post serve as a reminder to keep doing what you are doing.
You may be passionate about starting a business, learning a new language, or spreading world peace with the promotion of conscious living. It can be anything. Know that there will always be challenges, and that there are resources which will help you overcome them.
Here are a few examples of people I know who came out victorious:
I know brilliant programmer who went through numerous interviews with a great company for a position he thought he wanted. After finding out that the role was filled by another candidate, he did nothing but lay in bed for weeks. He just needed that time to recover and think about what he really wanted to do. Soon after, he started applying again. He now has his dream job of creating video games while making a sizable income.
On my freshman year of college, a dormmate of mine wanted to be more social. He read a book which told him to start engaging conversations with as many people as possible. The next morning, he introduced himself to a girl eating alone in the dining hall. He is now married to her.
My dad moved to America not knowing any English. He was determined to make my childhood more nourishing than his and started learning to cook. He now owns a small restaurant which feeds hundreds of people every day.
Life and projects are very similar. I look at life as one big personal project with lessons and challenges that come in stages. You come out a little wiser with each stage of your life.
Do not be afraid to try. In the end, if you gave it your all, you will be proud of your accomplishments. Preparation and failure are funny because both promotes growth and success. You can only lose if you learn nothing from your experiences.
Keep working on your projects and keep living life!
