The Legend of Mango

Once upon a time, a mango tree of which old Isko planted only bares the same size of fruits. It is so small and it was called "pahutan". It taste so sweet and kids like it a lot.

Many are so happy when the fruit season of "pahutan" will came, since old Isko the owner is not greedy to share it's fruit to everyone. One time, a beautiful lady passed by under the tree. In his generosity and by his own desire old Isko offered the ripe fruits of mango to the lady. Because of so much joy, the lady planted the seeds of "pahutan" at the mountain and also at the downhill.

It suddenly grow, and for just a couple of days it became a full grown tree. Old Isko was so puzzled on how came there's a Mango tree in the end of the mountain and in the stoney downhill.

Old Isko was planning to cut off the two branch of Mango tree, but every time he come near there's some kind of whisper that he can hear...

"Please don't... Please don't kill me"

And because he is hesitant to cut the tree, he then left alone the two Mango trees until it became big and fully bloom. It became so helpful to the cow and carabao, who came to shed under the tree.

The one who always came to rest under the Mango tree is the carabao, he always find time to talk to the Mango tree.

"You are a heaven sent for me Mango tree. Before then, I endured the very heat of the sun, but since you came to grow you give rest and ease to my tired body then. So, if there's somebody who plan to cut you out, Then they must be ready to face my sharp horn."

"Thanks to you, carabao. Ever since I already admired your, industriousness, braveness, and strong. The Mango tree said it shyly."

Not in the long run, because they always talk to each other. The carabao and the Mango tree understand each other.

And so are the other Mango tree located at the downhill also find its own interest and like, is it "pahutan" the Mango tree which is only near from where it grow.

When the time Pahutan gets pregnant there's always a farmer who always bring pike and rest under her shed. Not to know why? Pahutan likes to keep on staring at the pike.

The time come that both tree bare flowers and fruits. Old Isko takes good care of the separated mango tree, he both smoke them so that bugs and pest will go away. All of the Mango trees bare fruits.

When old Isko return to harvest the fruits he became so terrified! The two Mango tree which is separated from the others has a different size and shape of their fruits. The old Isko cannot think why and how it goes like that.

So then, the beautiful lady came again, and...

"Because the big mango is the fruits from Carabao and Pahutan's understanding we will call it Carabao Mango. Although, they have same feature of fruits at the other tree but still they differ in shape and their size. And because it was being conceive by the pike. It will be then known as Pike Mango."

"Miss how can you say all these things?"
"Because I am the fruit fairy" she smiled and disappear.

What the fairy said, Old Isko also told the story to the Mango buyer repeatedly. But whatever it is, its not the important, if either it is a Pahutan, Carabao Mango or Pike Mango. What's important is that they are all the same, Mango.

Heart that hanging in there, all wanted to smell. So sweet to eat when it's ripe.
