Wanted to be a Singer and Writer- life made me a Chartered Accountant
Hi Steemitiens.. Its Touhida here. I am from Bangladesh. I joined Steemit to share my life experience with others and also to learn about others story.
I always wanted to become a writer but Life made me something else. Even though I believe that its not too late to start what you are passionate about. Just start with an 'A' and you will be going towards 'Z' without even knowing.
.
I have been blessed with two sons. Baby smiles are the most beautiful things in the whole world. I forget about all my stress, life challenges and sorrows when I see them smiling. Also I discovered that I can take pretty good pictures when occasions call for it.
I love traveling and exploring new cultures and countries. I think those people are most fortunate who have a job or something which supports their livelihood through traveling different places. This is the most amazing things to do. I traveled some-places when I had an opportunity and the travelling experience made me more hungry to explore more. If I had enough money and time , I would have gone for more.
Regarding this , I just remembered one hard life lessons. To travel , you need three things together- time, money and energy. There is a saying that when you are young , you have the energy and time to travel but not the money to support it. When you are working , you have the money and energy but not the time to go for it. When you are old or retired, you have the money and time but not the energy for travelling. I guess that is why I think whenever a person have an opportunity they should go for it as there is very little time in this life to explore.
I was married when I was 19. It was an arranged marriage and before getting married I didn't see my husband, not even his picture. I wanted to be a singer and writer. But no one cared. However, it turned out to be great for me as my life partner was great. He was studying MBA in UK then and took me there with him. I asked him if I can at least finish my study and he said that I can. Only one problem was there and that was money. He was a student and was not allowed to work more than 20 hours. That small amount of money wasn't even enough to support our daily expenses. So I started working almost 60-70 hours a week, and attending weekend classes . God knows how I managed. Today I have a BSc honours degree from Oxford Brookes University , UK in Applied Accounting, have a Post Graduate degree in Project Management from Centennial College , Canada, and have two Chartered Accountancy Professional designations from UK and Canada and have a full time job as an Accountant. Now that I am settled with money and life , 14 years have been gone already .
Now as a singer, I am doing pretty good. My sons are my biggest fan and audience. Sometimes I sing in the friends gathering party. So no hard feelings for not being able to sing in front of a large crowd or audience. Life taught me one big lesson and that is that no one should give up at any point of life. It is important to move forward even with a fraction constantly and always look for opportunity. Always follow your heart at your best ability , as I learnt that following heart is not easy specially if there is money issue involved.
One thing I learnt about life that you cannot replace your good friends with anything. They an be more than family. My husband is more of a friend to me without him it wouldn't have been possible for me to come this far. He had to listen crap from others of my culture for allowing me to work outside and study. I had friends in college and, university who helped me in many ways to what I am now. Group study was the best thing that I can remember in my college. Even though we were supposed to be studying the whole time. Most of the times, we only studied for 20 percent of the time and the rest of the time we used to have fun. Those would always remain as golden memories in my mind.
Now I am in maternity leave with my youngest son. I have more spare time to write in my diary. I chose steemit to share my life experiences because I found that steemitiens leave more non-judgmental comments then other social platforms, because they actually read what other posts. I believe I can trust this platform.
This is my first post. Hopefully I didn't hurt anyone's feelings. If I do my apologies. I would bring on more life in depth stories of mine and others that I know in the future. Until then hasta la vista.

Hi @touhida84 I am glad to come accros your post. I have been to Dhaka 3 times working with Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). Every trip has been memorable. I met awesome people and made several friends. (Btw, Dhaka was in lockdown during my first trip in 2008).
