The greatest Super Bowl bet of all time? (John Goehrke and Eugenie Bouchard reunite, months after the bet)
Ten months ago, John Goehrke made a bet with Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard.
Genie was over-confident that Atlanta would win the Super Bowl after they built a comfortable lead in the first half. She tweeted, "I knew Atlanta would win btw."
John tested her confidence: "If Patriots win we go on a date?"
Genie responded: "Sure."
As we all know, the Patriots mounted an incredible comeback and won Super Bowl 51, and although Tom Brady was named MVP, Twitter was crowning John Goehrke as the true hero for earning a date with the beautiful Bouchard.
I interviewed John prior to his date with Genie. At the time, that interview ended up being one of the most-read Steemit posts of all time, bringing more than 16,000 readers to Steemit. In fact, that interview had more views than the top 4 trending articles combined.
I was happy for John, but assumed that his date would be a one-time encounter, and that his 15 minutes of fame was complete. But a tweet from Eugenie Bouchard this week changed all of that...
