What is Odinism? The Easy Explanation
Odinism is the ancient religion dedicated to the gods of the Norse pantheon. But there is more to it.
To know what Odinism really is one has to know what an Odinist practices and what he believes in. Let's start with the 9 noble virtues that every Odinist follows.
The 9 Noble Virtues
1.Courage
The courage to stand for what you believe in, to face fear. For example to protect your loved ones from harm.
2.Truth
Saying the truth. Putting that mask to hide your personality away. This can be achieved by saying what you think and using your real name on the internet.
3.Honor
No gossiping, standing for what you believe is right, holding your word and always becoming better than you were yesterday.
4.Fidelity
No adultery, being loyal to your chosen people, loyal to your gods and purposes
5.Discipline
Doing what you have to do however you feel like.
6.Hospitality
Entertaining and serving your guests. You also have to protect them. This does not mean to entertain, protect and serve people you don't know.
7.Self Reliance
Being absolutely 100% self-reliant. Odinist would rather steal than beg for money.
8.Industriousness
Industriousness is working energetically and devotedly to complete a task or in life’s daily toils in a hard-working and diligent manner.
9.Perseverance
Enduring and pushing through hardship. To keep doing the hard work however you feel like. Never giving up or surrendering.
Words to Life by
1. Strength is better than weakness
2. Courage is better than cowardice
3. Joy is better than guilt
4. Honor is better than dishonor
5. Freedom is better than slavery
6. Kinship is better than alienation
7. Realism is better than dogmatism
8. Vigor is better than lifelessness
9. Ancestry is better than universalism
The Most Famous Gods
Odin/Wotan
The allfather. He values knowledge more than anything else. He sacrificed one of his eyes for knowledge. He takes half of the warriors fallen in battle to Valhalla where he prepares them for Ragnarök.
Thor
God of thunder. He carries the weapon Mjölnar that he throws at enemies, striking them with lightning.
Freyja
Goddess of love, fertility, war, sex and attraction. She is the most popular goddess of the Norse Pantheon. She is also referred to as the queen of the elves and Valkyries. She takes the other half of the warriors slain in battle.
Rituals
Blot
The term for the historical Norse sacrifice in honor of the gods. Drinks and food are offered to the gods and most of that is consumed in the celebration.
Sumbel
A drinking ritual. An alcoholic drink is passed around. At each passing of the drink, participants make a short speech, a toast, and an oath. The oaths are binding. Not acting on that oath is considered honorless.
Berserkergang
A ritual to bring people with violent potential into a frenzy often using drugs, dancing, and chanting. Berserkers were the elite force which charged into battle with no fear of losing their life.
Reading the Runes
Used for magic. Traditionally used to summon a dead person that will tell the future. This is how Odin uses the Runes (Havamal verse 156).
People that Practice Odinism
They live with intensity, passion, honor, and discipline. It is possible to identify an Odinist by a Mjölnar around his neck or as a Tatoo. But that could also just be a fan of Viking metal. A real Odinist follows the 9 noble virtues and walks with his head held high and an intensity in his eyes.
Extremist that dedicate their life to the Norse Gods and the 9 noble virtues will find their way to Valhalla. With other words, it depends on how they lived and how they died if they are lifted up to Valhalla by Valkyries (warrior maidens).

Everything about honor:
Really good introduction, and I hope you write more about this.
I will, I hope you do the same with your spiritual journey.
great article is very informative,thanks
I was inspired by yours and @ellievallie's conversation this morning in the Politically Incorrect channel, so my second post of the day is about my thoughts on religion. Odinism has very inspiring virtues and words to live by. #berserkers
I wonder what you will write about it.

Hmmm! Have actually never heard about Odinism but their 9 NOBLE VIRTUES is definitely something I find no fault with. They are nobel principles of life that can transform a pauper to a Churchill.
Loved this part so much. Knowledge is the key to success. Cheers man!
#BERSERKERS!
BTW: Its nice to see what Berserkgang means:
Exactly. It perfectly fits into every self-improvement journey.
On the surface, it sounds similar to Christianity.
I'm curious to know more about the runes. You said at some point that their presence gives your power. Will you talk about them at some point? And I assume you won't be using it to communicate with the dead.
I could do that. But it ain't only about runes, it is also about symbols and their meaning. I will write that down to my ideas.
I love everything related to the Vikings and their culture, I have read the odin songs, a series of Odin sages quite useful for life, I have also read some of the eddas!! :)
Do you consider yourself an Odinist?
I consider myself a warrior, therefore I feel more related to the Viking culture, I do not like religions, odinism is like a religion, I have managed to understand what each personage of the Viking mythology means, therefore there is no longer the idea of religion here, but I do not like to love your enemies of other religions, I feel more attracted to the wisdom of the Nordics and their correct emotional health. :)
Greetings my friend!!
Better to be a wolf of Odin than a lamb of God.
100% agree with everything you said mate. Loving your enemy is just plain retarded and only a fucked up leftist mind could come up with that idea.
Wow. Nice concise explanation. That's so interesting. I've been an Odinist all along, but didn't know it (but without the belief in gods).
Sounds good!
