Life is a very strange thing...

My life has been a series of events that have mostly happened organically without much forethought. Circumstances take shape in the form of direction, and, aside from a few pivotal surges of inspiration that propel me down one path or the other, it's mostly made up of mundane day-to-day trivialities..

But how did I come to the point where I'm at now? Let's take a little trip down the road of my..

We don't need to go all the way back. Let's start with were most people's lives truly begin...

The summer I finished university was mostly spend hopping from party to party and random all-day adventures. After a few months, when the heat started to wane, the excitement of being out in the real-world started to wind down. Eventually, we all decided to go our own ways trying to figure out the Next Step.

For me that meant moving up to NYC and trying to get a job while I took acting classes, got headshots, and generally did what was expected when you're a fresh face trying to make it in a big city. And for awhile, I did just that. But something didn't feel right, something inside of me was screaming PULL THE BREAKS!..

Life in the city moves fast, whether you want it to or not. My relationship with The Big Apple was that of a love/hate variety. The city is bustling, truly alive, and you can find any intricacy that tickles your fancy if you look hard enough. But, it's also cut-throat, and materialistic.

Everyone you meet in the city (who lives there) is trying to act bohemian and bourgeois, but they are all secretly judging each other. Behind their laughter and smiles is a mix of cynicism and fear. Fear that they will be exposed as a sham. If you aren't willing to climb up the social ladder on the backs of others, the city will chew you up and spit you out..

That's not the kind of person I am..

But there was another thing. I have always been unconventional in my thinking, and although I had never traveled anywhere other than a road trip to Miami for spring break, I found myself with an unceasing desire to travel and see the world.

I convinced myself that seeing the world would provide me with a wealth of experience which would be invaluable when I finally returned to start my acting career. Of course this was just a lie I told myself on the outside.. My real desire was to just head off and spend the rest of my days on the road..
