A TRANSPARENT CRYSTAL CLEAR VISION OF THE FUTURE
I have been asked many times what I believe is the future of BLOCKCHAIN and how it will be adopted into daily life.
Below is my vision of the FUTURE.
The topics I set out below may surprise some more than others and I guess it will depend on the ability to have an open and free mind.
I am sure there will be many who will question the advantages of what I believe will happen and I guess it will boil down to whether you have a “half full”, or “half empty” mindset.
Obviously I am moulded from the “half full” mix and have been for all of my 35 years of adult life.
A “go-get” approach to life, I am always looking at the good in life by learning what was bad.
To fully appreciate the vision of BLOCKCHAIN and its dynamic application in the future relies heavily on one basic belief and that is whether you agree with the following....
BLOCKCHAIN Technology cannot be Hacked, Copied, Manipulated, Rigged, Stolen, Controlled, Influenced, Exploited, Orchestrated, or Choreographed..!!
If you are happy with this then we are good to go.
However should you doubt any of this statement then the vision set out below will have no meaning and will purely frustrate and upset some readers if this is not believed.
I will begin with a simple statement...
BLOCKCHAIN will change everything and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING..!!
BLOCKCHAIN Technology is set to be adopted in the following areas: BANKING and FINANCE, GLOBAL TRADE, DEMOCRACY to name but a few, but it is the application of BLOCKCHAIN that is set to be applied to other areas in particular Personal Lifetime that I would like to focus on in this vision.
In the future BLOCKCHAIN is set to create digital footprint of a person’s life from Birth through to Death, by capturing every transaction and register the individual wishes to record.
In simple terms the creation of your very own unique and personal Lifetime Digital DNA.
Your Very Own Personal BLOCKCHAIN..!!
The Digital Record will be private and subject to the Individuals wish to layer the privacy of his/hers personal BLOCKCHAIN.
Think of it as a Lifetime Digital Diary, a Growing Digital Signature, your very own Life Passport, unique as a fingerprint and yet more detailed than your own DNA..!!
A record that is central to who you are..!!
As you go on through the various stages of life you will take your BLOCKCHAIN with you updating it as you go, effectively creating a unique record of Technical, Financial, Academic and Medical changes to name but a few.
Here are a few of the areas that BLOCKCHAIN is set to change lives, by recording with PRIVACY, those items that individuals wish to record.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Let’s start at the beginning.
At the time of Birth you will become a BLOCKCHAIN BABY and the details of your birth will be the first record on your BLOCKCHAIN including DNA details, parental links, place of birth etc.
MEDICAL RECORDS
As we move through life your Medical and Dental Records will be entered on to your BLOCKCHAIN including all ailments, operations, appointments and medicines taken.
EDUCATION RECORDS
As you grow and move through school life, all reports, assessments and test results will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
Detailed examination results including Passes and Grades will be recorded, including all College Grades and University Degrees.
A record of Achievements made during School, College and University will also be entered and registered on your BLOCKCHAIN.
BANKING and FINANCE
All Bank Accounts and Bank Transactions will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN as a record of Payments, Savings and Investments made.
CURRICULUM VITA
When starting out in your career your CV will begin its life on your BLOCKCHAIN and a record of Positions, Appointments, Goals and Achievements recorded, including your Work History and Employer(s) start/end dates.
PASSPORTS
Future Passports will be BLOCKCHAIN compliant and all Travel Details will be digitally mirrored on your BLOCKCHAIN.
SALARY PAYMENT
Future salary Payments and Incomes made, together with Bill Payments and Taxes will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
MARRIAGE
Getting married and divorced will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN including details of your Marriage Certificate and Divorce Details where appropriate.
HOMES and ASSETS
The purchase and sale of homes and other valuable assets you wish to record an ownership of including: Fine Art, Jewellery, Boats, Cars, Homes, Phones, Computers and anything of value or importance in your life will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
CASH
Counterfeiting of Cash will become a thing of the past.
All paper money will be issued with a serial number and a bar-coded digital signature will be recorded on a BLOCKCHAIN.
When someone tries to spend a Paper Currency it will be flagged up on the BLOCKCHAIN as either; real, counterfeit, or stolen..!!
Cash Payments made will be entered on your BLOCKCHAIN where available.
CREDIT and DEBT
All Personal Credit in the future will be record on your BLOCKCHAIN, including Taking out a Loan, Taking out a Mortgage, Taking on Credit, together with Payments when made.
GAMBLING and BETTING
Placing a Bet and Gambling will also be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
INSURANCE
Purchasing of all Insurance Policies and making an Insurance Claims will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
INVESTMENTS
Purchase and Sale of Stocks, Shares, Bonds and all other Financial Instruments will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN as confirmation of Ownership.
Pension Contributions and Pension Payments will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN.
SOCIAL SECURITY
Social Security Benefits and Social Security Pension Payments will be recorded on your BLOCKCHAIN where applicable.
CRIMINAL
Criminal Convictions and details taken from the Criminal Record Certificate will be registered on your BLOCKCHAIN.
DEMOCRACY
Democracy and Central Government is set to be totally revolutionised beyond the imagination of many.
Online Democratic Voting will be on the BLOCKCHAIN and mirrored to your own BLOCKCHAIN recording all voting and ensuring that individuals are only vote once when required to do so.
FOOD and GOODS
Manufactured Goods and Produce will be recorded on the BLOCKCHAIN to guarantee details of manufacture products and food province bought.
DEATH
The Final Entry on your BLOCKCHAIN will be details of the Death Certificate together with details of the Transfer of Ownership of the Assets contained on your BLOCKCHAIN.
Our lives will be mapped on our very own unique BLOCKCHAIN and the BLOCKCHAIN will become our lives..!!

It is strange to imagine a new world with government and "private" issued currencies cohabiting.
Exciting times. Fiat currencies will eventually disappear..!! Sure, it won't happen overnight, and I guess not in our lifetime, but eventally they will be replaced by crypto currencies. Stephen
Perhaps strange to us. It's happened before. In fact it was common practice hundreds of years ago.
This article exactly hit my area of interest as I'm working in a public office and researching the seemingly unlimited potential of applications of blockchain tech. Your article gives me a lot of food for thought. Thank you very much, Stephen. Recently I read articles about Dubai and then Russia's announcement of moving toward the use of blockchain for all government documents. It would be great if you could share your view on these governments' move, too.

Absolutely. People laugh when they say it isn't going to happen. Probably the same people that laughed when someone talked about Facebook in 2004..!! It has already started it's just that people are oblivious to it. Most of what I set out will be up and running by 2021. Stephen
Having your own personal blockchain to record all the details of your life is a very interesting idea. It would certainly be convenient to have one standardized record of all those events you highlighted. And storing it on a blockchain will drastically reduce problems of forgery, counterfeiting, etc. But I worry about identity theft if someone steals your private keys... or if you lose them you'd be screwed.
ConsenSys is already taking steps in this direction with their Ethereum based uPort identity management system. I'm very excited to see where this leads!

Many question the feasibility but in time security will be overcome and as generations come they wouldnt blink an eye to having all their details in one place. Most +50 yrs would be horrified at the idea. Ask a 12 yr old in 6 years time and they would assume PERSONAL BLOCKCHAIN had been around for generations..!! Its simply how this new generation think. It's amazing how fast technology changes! When I was a kid people were still trying to figure out what the Internet was good for. I never could have imagined the things we have now like smartphones, tablet computers, and blockchain tech. I hope I live to a ripe old age so I can see how all this technological evolution ultimately plays out. Exciting times ahead!
Me too. It's going to move fast, very fast. I remember starting my very first office job in 1984 and there was an unopened box in the reception when I started. No one dare open open it. Head Office had sent it and inside was an IBM XT with a floppy disk drive..!! I asked if I could open it and they said sure. I then stated to teach myself programming..!! Exciting times. Stephen
