Where Did 2016 Go? And How to Make the Most out of 2017
2016 will be over in less than 3 months. Let that sink in. Now if you're like me , You're response will be something similar to this
Now I'll tell you the stages that everyone goes through after 31st December!
1. It's a new year, a new slate!
THIS IS GOING TO BE MY YEAR! No one is going to stop me. You look at the calendar with amazement. Admiring how beautiful the numbers are.
2. I have so much time
After a while , you understand the vast availalibllity of time you have. And you start postponing stuff. Sounds great doesn't it.
3. I’ve wasted so much time
The first few months you have done absoluttely noting. And this is when you start understanding what situation you are in. You have wasted time ,and done nothing to document or record it.
4. Let’s enjoy a little
Your birthday is coming close ( Atleast mine will by this stage :) ) and then you realize , I GOTTA LIVE , let's make the most out of life. You maybe plan a small trip , attend a concert or something to make it memorable.
5. 2017 is going to be the best.
You give up on the current year and save up all the energy for the next year!
How to make the most out of 2017?
1. How times passes so fast
When do you feel time is slower? While you're studying or while hanging around with a couple of friends.
Why is this so ? Allow me to give you my crude explanation for it! While we are hanging out with our friends we are living in the moment. Carefree . We don't care what the future holds. So the next time you are doing anything, take a moment and deep breath ,just focus on why this moment is so precious.
2. Why we need to invest in experiences and not products?
What would you choose ? An expensive vacation or the the money value equivalent to the vacation. The money? Most of you , including me would say yes. There are so many " problems" that money can solve. Money brings satisfaction and happiness too. But we are allowing it turn us into these product hungry individuals. At the end of the year we have nothing to remember . No experiences , no moments. Just some receipts and the products that came along with them
Invest in experiences It maybe a vacation, a workshop or some charity event. Allow your brain to form new connections. You'll cherish these moments later.
3. Journaling
A journal is like a time machine. Document your thoughts and experiences , and when you read them in the future ,you feel the same emotions and almost relive the same experience. Journaling helps you to track you progress, documents thoughts and experiences and to vent out. Journaling has proven to have various advantages in day to day activities.
4.Settings goals
Set goals by looking at the benefits that it may bring to your life. Don't only look at them as goals/objectives . Look at them as steeping stones for your success.
5. Gamifying

In the past few month , I've had a lot of fun 'gamifying' my life! Basically you set a reward and a punishment for various activities. Do 5 pushups i get 5 'coins' which can be redeemed for watching youtube/TV ,etc. If i want eat junk food I need to spend 5 coins, you get the idea.
