This is one of the many reasons I think moving to another country is an excellent idea. This country and its culture doesn't represent me anymore (except some places in New England....New England is still pretty cool and progressive).
Do you live in New England?
In NZ Christchurch (third biggest city) is sort of our New England, but not very progressive - Wellington is most progressive
Unfortunately Christchurch got really messed up by the big earthquake a few years ago.
