Does social media make any impact on our life ?

The impact of social media on society is like a pendulum. It has positive sides as well as the negative sides. I have seen few events where social media played tremendous role in social events. However, I have also seen some people who just make comments on social media and do nothing more than that.

Social media made a huge revolution on society by sharing pictures and information on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. One of the incident that I remembered about a girl who was brutally raped and beaten in India. Her story was everywhere on social media and people wanted justice for her. Not everybody liked the page or commented on it but everyone came on the streets and protests against government to give criminals harsh punishments as early as possible. More than 100,000 people came on streets together and it was all because her story was published in social media and people wanted justice for her. Social media made a huge revolution about speed of news and information shared on it. People are more aware with information and news on social media.

However, some people use social media just to spend their time and enjoyment. People only like pictures and share news and comment on news. Some people do not participate in any events that shred on social media. Just a few months ago one Canadian girl committed suicide because she was bullying by her classmates. She tried to do suicide but she was lucky that doctors somehow able to save her. She went back to school again but again same incident happened to her, she was again bullied by her classmates. She was so frustrated that before committing suicide she made her video and posted on social media. People liked her video and commented on it, but she was already gone. People only commented on video that bullying should not be tolerated and showed some sympathy for her but that was not enough. By clicking like and making comment on that video was not enough that same incident will not happen in future. People thought that it was enough to make a change but in real it wasn't.

Social media create lot of awareness but it’s like two side of one coin. Sometimes it make a revolution or sometimes people just share and comment on it. Social media is just one platform for people to share information and news on it. It does not allow people to make revolution on social media. People have to get together on such events and make revolution. Social media can only give news and information on it but people have to create revolution, social media is just for information not for revolution.
